"Wife" yeh, it was banned from a couple of comeback show stages. Also... there are no CC-lyrics and they don't lipsync because a "wife" is meant to be silent. They lipsync at the end when they say "I don't want to (be a) wife". I think that the wig/baggy clothes are sort of the "wife" uniform. Their shirts also say "wife" on the front. I think that the sameness of the uniform means that becoming a (traditional) "wife" causes you to lose your individuality.

It's because the lyrics are sexual as hell. I compare it to WAP. Just a Soyeon Korean take on how explicit a song can be without saying anything ACTUALLY explicit though a lot of Koreans listening will get it. Kids watch the music shows after school. It's def a 19+ song so I get it.

@@kikiwannabananawatermelonmango there are suggestive songs that are clearly suggestive to international listeners but go over the head of Korean listeners. This was the other way around. Most Koreans don't know sexual slang from abroad or idioms and such. We do have our own though in our own language. If they had just done the song in English, it would have been fine. If a guy says to someone, "Do you like how my cream tastes" it barely registers as sexual in Korea if it's in English. If it's said in Korean, everyone will understand what the meaning actually is. That's why most sexual innuendos will be sung in English vs Korean, in order to get airplay and performances.

I don't think you noticed that the main lyricist on "Vision" was Miyeon, making her debut as a lyricist for a group song. In some ways this feels like an album that really showcases their skills. Rappers flex their vocals, vocalists flex their rapping. They have 2 entirely English songs that they wrote themselves. They sing yet more genres they have never sing before... they are amazing.

Fun fact, courtesy of Minnie spilling the tea: Soyeon casually hitting E5s and a mixed F5/G5 like its no biggie was actually not supposed to happen. She wrote those intro lines to be delivered by the group's most technique-strong main vocalist, Miyeon, but she couldn't do it. Instead, the lines were passed to Minnie, the group's other main vocalist... who couldn't do it either. Soyeon then took it upon herself to deliver these high notes, and (likely) gave what was supposed to be her first rap section over to Minnie. I never want to hear anyone try to tell me that Soyeon isn't an ace because she "can't sing" ever again.

​@angelyuqi6709 Honestly, all of the GIdle members are great rappers. They were never really given rap parts for years likely cause Soyeon was just so good at rapping. It is a shame that we've heard all of the girls have actual rap verses expect for Soojin. I wish she had stayed in the group longer so we could have heard her rap a bit, especially since she was marketed as the Lead Rapper. I doubt it'll happen but I hope she starts rapping in her solo releases.

I loved how you got the details from the beginning, like the way in Wife they did NOT lip-sync anything (except the final "but I don't wanna wife") and the fact that they were all styled the same to make fun of the expectation of compliance and uniformity in being the perfect trophy wife. Adding a few points I saw no one mentioning from an eastern pov: 1 The original title for fate is Korean and it’s called “I just hate being sick” which I interpreted as being lovesick. Also it was originally planned as the title track but they eventually went with super lady. 2 I don’t know about Korean but there’s a phrase in Chinese when you can call a really evil woman to have “the heart and guts of a snake or a scorpion” which roughly means a heart of stone. There must be similar phrases in Korean hence the snake and scorpion reference in the super lady mv. Also the scene where Minnie and Soyeon entangled around a sculpture is supposed to be snakes around Laocoon, the Trojan priest who tried to warn the soldiers against pulling the wooden horse filled with Greeks in and was punished by being strangled to death by snakes along with his two sons, a common theme in marble sculptures 3 Others have mentioned vision was co written by Miyeon and Minnie. It was also worth mentioning that the line “shiny crystal rose” (Miyeon’s name in Han means “a beautiful rose”) happened exactly at 1:31 which is Miyeon’s birthday 😊 4 I don’t want to spoil I Never Die too much but there’s a all rap song called My Bag where the chorus, sang by Soyeon, is “red five diamonds in my bag” (got mocked by haters badly as you can imagine) so you can see the reference in Rollie. Many also think that by saying “5 diamonds in my bag” Soyeon is also including Soojin 😢 (at the end of the tomboy mv they let out 6 heart-shaped balloons)

And aside from I Never Die and I Love you can also check out their Japanese release which includes the Japanese version of some of their songs like Latata and Oh My God (both have their own version of mv) but also three Japanese songs “Light My Fire” “Tung-Tung” and “For you”. If you love Minnie’s songs you should definitely check out those masterpieces especially considering Minnie wrote them in Japanese

I love how you pay so much attention to the lyrics 🩶 Some extra info that might be interesting: - Soyeon said the budget for Super Lady MV was 800k dollars - Wife appeared on Korean News channel for the “controversial” lyrics and got banned from KBS because of it. The controversy might be because it’s obviously a satire of traditional wives and Korea has a huge anti-feminist culture, so they were pissed lol. But also because the Korean lyrics are full of sexual innuendos, a K-Nevie explained it on twitter and everyone was kinda shook because it’s apparently very straightforward, but I wasn’t all that surprised cause they always love to make everyone GAGGED 😂
