G.I. Joe Wrath of Cobra (Demo)

From the game's Steam page:
"Yo Joe! Cobra returns once again with its most fiendish plot yet and it's up to G.I. JOE to defeat them once more! Pick one of the real American heroes, gear up, and get straight into the fight in this retro side-scrolling beat 'em up - and make Cobra RETREAT yet again!"
As a bit of a fair weather Joe fan (mainly through their association with the Transformers), I've been keeping half an eye on how this has been shaping up. I hadn't realised though that a demo's been out for awhile on Steam, so let's give it a whirl.
This is a 2 level demo, with a choice of 3 playable Joes; Snake Eyes, Scarlett or Duke (I'm guessing there's going to be some more unlockable characters along the way). I love the aesthetic choice here to do this game in the style of a 2D retro style side scrolling beat-em-up (I wish Sega had stuck with that for their new Golden Axe and Streets of Rage games, rather than going 3D). I absolutely loved Streets of Rage 4 and TMNT: Shredder's Revenge.
This is fun and exactly what I wanted in a game of this type. I was basically button mashing my way through it, so I'm not sure if there are any more moves or combos you can do (I couldn't see any info on extra moves in the options). The levels feels a bit basic and bare left to right at the moment, would be good if they had a bit more added to them to fancy them up a tad. The music is great, the pixel art on the characters is great.

No idea about the Switch, I'm playing this on my PC via Steam. Don't think a release date has been set yet.

Loving the aesthetic but my god that scene transition isnt good. Having to go to the far right to make it scroll and stuff there could hit you as it transitions is a bit irritating. A lot of the animations are quite jerky as well, as if they need a few more pixel frames to them. Will have to see how it pans out in the full game but so far looks good overall! Loved the way that HISS tank blew up.
