From what I understand Wife is supposed to be sarcastic. They are poking fun at men who expect the "perfect wife" who will do both housework and sexual acts without complaint. They also play with the innuendos a lot more rather than saying it out loud, and dress modest (almost childlike) because a common fantasy of men, especially in east Asia is a woman who is "cute and innocent" while also being highly sexual for his benefit. Part of why the music video might seem so unsettling is because unlike most MVs, they are not lip-syncing the words, playing into the "women should be seen and not heard" stereotype. To address your comments at the end: I'd recommend checking out their song Nxde. It is a tribute to Marilyn Monroe that talks about the sexualization of women's bodies. The lyric that article was butchering is sometimes translated to "I'm born nude, you're just a pervert" or "I'm born nude, you're the one with a dirty mind." It's a thought provoking piece (and a bop) As for Wife's criticism, I'll just quote Soyeon's rap in Nxde: "Whatever people say is not my interest, you're welcome to throw your popcorn. Ratings are just the inverse of bliss."

Wife' talks about how men want their wives to cook, clean, and do whatever they ask. The song is a complete satire of society's traditional view of women and wives. There are also many double meaning phrases, showing that they are the opposite of the submissive wife they want, since society always emphasizes that if you are not a good housewife or good at sex, you are not a good wife. That's why the song emphasizes cleanliness and sex a lot. In the video they wear the same clothes and the same hairstyle because society wants all women to be equal, to imitate the same model wife formula and to all do the same thing. In the past, long hair symbolized femininity, wearing hair so short is a mockery for those men who find it extremely annoying when a girl cuts their hair.

The lyrics are something like BlackPink's ice cream. If you want to be offended you will always find stuff to offend you. Just ignore the online goofs who think they control what morality is. Enjoy the video and the song :) G-IDEL is great

the industry isn’t sensitive. it’s misogynistic. people like jungkook can release songs like 3d that objectify women and treat them like sex objects and all he’ll receive is love and praise. but women release songs where THEY willingly sexualize THEMSELVES and suddenly it’s a problem. it’s simply misogyny.
@gordowg1wg14511 ай бұрын
TRUTH - especially if you mix in a hint (or more!) of bi-sexuality or lesbianism, where the "man" is less important or completely removed from the woman enjoying her body.

In Jungkook's 3d the lyrics actually say "if you're ready and if you'll let me" and if we talk about jack's verse he is talking about how he was used to be. People need to really understand English and stop talking everything literal.same thing goes for g idle if don't take everything litreal we can understand the message but again people are dump asf.
@freddie572510 ай бұрын
Agreed, but 3D was not about objectifying women. If you are talking about Jack Harlows verse, he is actually making fun of himself for being a so called “manwhore”
@bottomerenjaeger9 ай бұрын
@@sadi-nf8fn jack harlow calling women thots and them lining up in the same clothes next to him like they’re nothing but sex objects is objectification, therefore misogyny. y’all have made up every theory in the book to try and minimize the misogyny of jack harlow’s verse but its not working. it was a horrible verse that’s both sonically and lyrically bad. end of story. and jungkook willingly choosing jack as the collab and approving those lyrics makes him just as responsible. good for him he sang about consent (which is the bare minimum) but he’s still a grown man who wants to be treated like one and be called out for his mistakes and y’all wont let anyone criticize him. he’s wrong for approving that verse, and jack is wrong for writing it, and the director is wrong for lining the women up like that. plus jack harlow is a zionist, y’all shouldn’t be defending him like this.

G-idle is a very feminist type group and the song is more aimed at mocking the idea of the perfect wife. There are double meanings, but the video helps paint the picture. They don’t speak the whole video aside from the ending, they are all dressed the same with the same wig. It’s a be seen not heard type deal. Poking fun at how women are expected to clean and cook for you like a mother but still be sexual partners.

What makes it extra weird is that they're not lip synching, feels bizarre in a kpop video
@just-a-generic-username10 ай бұрын
I think that was on purpose. They didn't lipsync until the end when they were saying all of those stereotyps aren't what they want to be.

I get what you’re talking about. They look like NPCs in this choreo. Imagine if this was someone’s first (G)I-DLE MV. They’d be hella confused. I really like it personally! I don’t deep dive in lyrics for most songs these days. If I vibe with the beat n/or vocals, I’m good. I deep dive mostly when I wanna sing the song. Your analogy is spot on. Have the explicit label on it n be done w it. And also, they can’t be calling their fans perverts when they’re the ones feeding them w this. Or making songs according to their fanbase.
