Ta-daa! Here it comes - the final part of Georg Joseph Vogler’s fascinating 32 preludes, played on the equally fascinating 1783 Söderström organ in Husby, Dalecarlia!🎉As in previous parts, Vogler writes two preludes in each chosen key, here beginning in A Major. The first one is sweet and very chromatic, with extra flavour added by the organ’s unequal temperament (tuning). The second one is totally different - energetic and powerful!💥Then follow two preludes in the more serious A Minor, the first one with a dance-like lilt (and many rapid manual changes😅), the second one with many sighs…😔Then we arrive at B-flat major with two equally jolly and sunny preludes!🌞Only to finish this entire collection off with the rather unusual key of B Minor. It casts dark, mysterious shadows, there is some enigmatic about it (especially the end of no. 32!)- which is further reinforced by a good deal of chromaticism.🌘If you haven’t listened to the first three parts in this series, please don’t hesitate to do so, and - as always - don’t forget to click the thumbs-up and subscribe!😃

They're great preludes, and probably something Swedish organists could've played at the time, since Vogler was well-known here (he lived 13 years in Sweden), and they didn't play so much with the pedals either. I just read that from the 1790's on, he used to add stops with free reeds to organs wherever he played, which is much earlier than I thought they even existed!

Den första delen måste på något sätt ha inspirerat den 150 år yngre amerikanen Harry P Guy i trion i hans trevliga ragtimevals "Echoes from The Snowball Club". Kanske spelades Vogler hemma i barndomshemmet?!

Ha...! Vilket lustigt sammanträffande om inte annat! Vogler må vara bortglömd nu, men de här preludierna gavs ut 1806 och valsen skrevs 1898, så helt omöjligt är det inte, om än på ett sätt föga troligt. Vad vet man?!
