Kind of unnerving so much of what GK said resonates with our society

Our society has created a whole class of people that are unwanted. Assult on marriage and motherhood.... this is exactly what has been happening since the beginning of the industrial age... now it the assult is on our youth and children...and babies... it is very concerning... very true words spoken and many warnings of all this throught the bible and may I add... the book of mormon

How has there been an assault on marriage and motherhood?

@@scvman992000 Just look at our media. Motherhood is seen as negative. Instead women should be career women slaving away for a boss.

Aristocrat women looked down on maternal nature as "animalistic" and low class. Children were raised by nannies. Rich women were supposed to be thin and stylish and they werent supposed to raise their children themselves

you can’t just give poor people property, or capital, that comes from the government via our tax dollars, or from a private buisness if they were so gracious to do that which is unrealistic and unreasonable to ask them to do so.

i read many of his works, as well as studies of his thought. i am aware of the difference between paradox and contradiction: a paradox is something that may be true although it sounds like a contradiction. a contradiction is a statement that negates an earlier statement made by the same person. chesterton's biggest contradiction was in his references to the concept of dogma. catholic dogmatism is good, the dogmatism of anyone else is bad. now, he was certainly right to object to the dogmatism that science is slipping into, but he was also aware that religious dogmatism also led to intolerance and brutality. dogmatism is the end of critical thinking.
@KenAmmi-Shalom2 жыл бұрын
Is it a dogma that "dogmatism is the end of critical thinking" ;o) One issue is that Chesterton's biggest critics held to dogmatheism and so, for example, could not condemn contradiction nor intolerance nor brutality.

Why do you make such a leap of faith into believing "religious dogmatism" led to intolerance and brutality. Are you sure that wasn't something else that led to that? You know, like sin maybe. ;)

@@PCorNPC I love Chesterton's writings. I just think that keeping in mind what your children will look and think like is an important decision to make when choosing a spouse. Evolution is not the be all end all, but the little we know about genetics can help us give our children better lives.

@@muckleyoftrisfal7838 Banning Catholics (with the ability to reason and function) with the capability to marry because their genetics aren't up to a certain man-made standard is inexcusable tho. I understand applying the thought of genetics to yourself to make sure you produce healthy Catholic children with things like working out, eating healthy, avoiding plastics, avoiding estrogen spikes, raising testosterone (for men), etc. But we have to think about man's ability to take things too far.

@@HeroOfTime303 These things should indeed not be put into law, but not taking them into account in your personal life is naive at best
