I'm pretty sure you can get an L2000 fretless via option order through a G&L dealer. If you didn't go crazy with the other options, it probably wouldn't be much more expensive than a retail version of the same guitar.

I think the problem is that a lot of channels that I’ve seen, have guys demo’ing gear who aren’t great players and our usually playing a poorly executed riff over and over again. Also without a backing track in many cases. Here we have someone playing well and tastefully. Can’t ask for more in a demo. Thanks!
@JohnWhite-xc3md2 ай бұрын
I agree. I think there are two reasons: 1. This guy can play. He isn't just blowing random licks over aggressively. 2. He is grooving with a backing track of other instruments, so you can hear how the bass fits in a mix. I had one of these basses years ago. Never should've sold it. It was a 1st generation too! Finally, years later I found a nice used one from the early 90s, and bought it!

@kylemundy887111 ай бұрын
Turn on series, go neck pickup, roll back the treble. If you have a way of boosting low mids and cutting high mids, that'll help too. I like some treble, so I would use the mid trick if you can, otherwise, try the first option

Amazing playing and sound. I have the G&L L-2000 made in Indonesia version and it is very far from sounding as good as you! I know that it all starts from the playing and fingers, but still can’t figure out how to get a better sound. I go in Apollo DI input, then Ampeg amp sim, but still no big difference between all positions like you have. Do you think that the made in Indonesia version is so different? Again congrats for your playing on all videos, great stuff!
@sEaNoYeAhАй бұрын
The Indonesian G&Ls use the same pickups and hardware anyway so it'll sound essentially the same. Just takes time to learn the controls and the nuances in leaning into the different sounds with your playing.

I’m listening for you a last few days and trying to get the same reach sound on my Fender JB 1974, but I Can’t Please tell me is it real to get the sound like yours, or I need an active bass? I understand - if you play professional you could play any bases with a good sound and tone. I’m new in recording) Maybe you could give me any tips how to get reach solid bass tone with good clarity and saturation with JB? And what stuff, except you great techniqe, do you use to get such a good sound? I’ve got SSL2 audio interface, garage band, and la 610 mkii preamp (maybe to sell all this stuff and buy G&L ? Sorry for such a big comment))

Amazing playing man! Looking at possibilities for a new bass and this is on the list now. I have a Squire Classic Vibe 60s I keep flats on and it sounds nice. Can't decide on upgrading to a higher quality p bass (I absolutely love p basses, out of all the basses I've played the p bass is just my favorite) or whether I go for another kind of bass. Any thoughts?
@rasmustodbjerg50453 жыл бұрын

@rasmustodbjerg50453 жыл бұрын
It's a little chunky. But very playable. Like a 70's P Bass. For me, it's more to do with getting used to a certain neck, than the size of it. I'm sure you'll enjoy this bass. However, if you want something smaller the G&L JB and JB2 are great choices. I have videos of both. Good luck:)

I recently acquired a fairly rare M-2000 Tribute. It's the first time I've played the MFD pickups and IMO, they're much more responsive than the standard J-style ones although I must say, I haven't played a JB2. I can say that the MFD's are powerful, gutsy, warm and phat. You can anything from P to 'Jaco' J. I suppose in the end, it comes down to comfortability in the playing - how the bass is set up. As Rasmus says, get both! I doubt whether you'll be disappointed in tonal variation or indeed, build quality. After all, both have Fender DNA.
