I remember exactly where I was when I heard this back in Lagos, Nigeria (1983). It came on the radio as I was making my way out to school and was immediately mesmerised. I had never heard rap delivered so brilliantly and wouldn’t for another two years when Rakim and LL came on the scene.

Until current artist recognize all that came before them... Hip Hop is gonna become more and more lost & become a remote tool & weapon that will destroy instead of build as it did in this time...!!! Salute to Jazzy J.... G. L. O. B. E. & Whiz Kid...!!!

In the movie Beat Street 1984, this song plays in the scene where Lee enters the underground party held by his older brother and he starts dancing electric boogie.

I saw a couple of these 12" vinyls with the blue Tommy Boy label at my beloved favorite grandma's house when I was coming up. My next to oldest uncle was just getting into hip hop in the early 80s & he remains the toughest in our family. I couldn't tell you for who was listed on those labels cuz I was just a little boy at the time.
