丨Making Use of Every Part of the Lotus: Flowers, Leaves, and Roots | Liziqi Channel

It's yet another flowering season for lotus. I found some lotus flowers, leaves, rhizomes, and roots, and made several congenial summer dishes. The rest of the lotus roots were used to make a dessert dedicated to my grandma - lotus powder with sweet osmanthus flowers and nuts. That, coupled with a sip of lotus tea, will make you so happy that you'll sigh about the transience of summer.

My wife is studying in Shanghai international Language University and their cross-culture communication faculty just hold one international seminar which attacted many experts and professors in the world. The head of cross-culture communication faculty is one American professor who lived in China almost 15 years. In the seminar they put up one investigation: who will be the first between mother and spouts you save if theres happend one fire suddenly? After collecting answers from the people of China and American, it indicates that more American people choose their spouts and most chinese choose mother. Because American people think the spouts are selected by themselves. In my opinion your marriage is based on contract or promise. But for chinese the values are more important and even until 1400 years ago the government stuff were selected from those who behaved well and treated their parents and other people well. Treating parents well is our value and ancestors are more important than God. The western society is established basen on contract and the chinese traditional society is based on moral value. But Traditional chinese social structure is transitting to one modern urban society. So there happened some problems in china which we need to solve. Now we chinese are looking for the way to building our values again to adapt ourselves to new world and new social structure. Many people say that we chinese have no belief. They are wrong and we chinese always have belief. But our belief is not only based on religion. We put the value first, not the form of religion. WE Have 5000 years of civilization and many things formed our belief. Our culture is inclusive, open and peaceful. That is why we are one country with 56 groups. The other two similar countries I see in this world are Thailand and India. When your people can treat everyone well whatever their religion, race and culture are, then your country have had one excellent culture. Religious belief is good, but with the time going religious belief will get less and less important. THIS IS THE TREND. The real value can make people get better, not the form of religion. If one religion lost its value or its value can not adapt to this world, then it can not make people get better. I get on well with many muslim friends who are from China and many other countries. They are good people, but their thinking is kind of ..... During world war 2 I believe the japanese and german are also good people, but they killed lots of people. Why?

I've recently been doing more Chinese cooking, my "first" recipe was pork rib and lotus root soup. I've just fallen in love with lotus root and lotus plants in general (when I'm REALLY dreaming, I think about making a lotus pond, but I'm not a good gardener). Everything you made looks so wonderful. If you're willing to share the recipes, or point it out of I missed it, I'd be so happy. 😊 Regardless, this was a beautiful video. Thanks for sharing.
