Most Chinese instruments are meant for solo performance so sadly their orchestra lagged behind western style and manufacturing of these instruments were largely left underdeveloped. @@nhankhuu5643 Big orchestra with all Chinese instruments maybe too noisy and lacking harmony in sound, as the sound of each instrument stands out too vividly, too individualistic, everyone is competing for attention. But in a small orchestra setting with 4 or 5 instruments, each taking turn as the main role while others as accompaniment, they can actually complement each other, enhance the overall texture and depth of the music.

In China, the Guqin has the highest status, it represents all the morals of a gentleman. In Chinese civilization, music does not exist as entertainment, let alone to please other people. The main function of music and instruments in China is to improve personal morality and to conform to the harmonious coexistence of nature and man. Therefore, the development of musical instruments is all about small occasions and personalization.

Thanks for this essential information. As a psychologist and also kind of mentalist, I was trying to empathize the player and I was wondering how she was dealing with the world in everyday life. While playing she is somehow able to reach perfection not only in the control of the instrument and the expressivity of her music but also in her attitude and face expression so that she embodies this graal of human life, when water reach the ocean i.e. when harsh discipline come to an end and let beauty and grace blossom. My wondering concerned her everyday life. Is she able to live a life of harmony with the same perfection in the quality of her emotions? I can't help think that she probably has as very high expectations regarding her husband if she has one (as she certainly is a person of high disciplin regarding herself). To make a long story short I would say that when looking at her I see a queen and I wonder if the queen as met the king she deserves and if she is able to live a peaceful love with him. I sincerely hope so but I know that strong characters are not easy to marry. A huge discipline is required to achieve harmony in the couple!

Guqin The guqin ([kùtɕʰǐn] (listen); Chinese: 古琴) is a plucked seven-string Chinese musical instrument of the zither family. It has been played since ancient times, and has traditionally been favoured by scholars and literati as an instrument of great subtlety and refinement, as highlighted by the quote "a gentle man does not part with his qin or se without good reason,"[1] as well as being associated with the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius. It is sometimes referred to by the Chinese as "the father of Chinese music" or "the instrument of the sages". The guqin is not to be confused with the guzheng, another Chinese long zither also without frets, but with moveable bridges under each string.
