Its slow imo and lacks the explosive comeback factor of VT1. You have to be a lot more careful with VT2

its very good in situations, if you're playing frame traps, the super armour on command grab is nice. I honestly perfer to try to stay at 1 charge anyway as i think the combos are better. and vt2 can extend those combos.

But can't you just use V2 the same as V1? You can simply use it after you confirmed a combo which wipes over 30% of life and around 500 stun bar. That means if you hit someone with it plus stun and follow up with another combo, that's 50-60% life gone effortlessly. The second ability of V2 doesn't even have to be used because the opponent will be terrified of you using the command grab. V2 seems best for most characters especially against close ranged ones. V1 seems best against Guile, Akuma and Rashid.

any character that can start a combo with a jab doesn't have to worry about the command grab too much because it's 20 frames and you can definitely hit him out of it or even react for a huge punish if good enough. vt2 is all but useless if your opponent is out playing you. vt1 has the v skill projectile and pretty much any hit is a corner to corner carry for mad damage. If they manage to block it you still brought the game back to center stage with a safe combo and have half of your gauge left. overall i think the great defensive options on a character that doesn't have many makes vt1 better against most of the cast. It's all up to personal play style i guess. G seems to be one of the few characters in sfv that can be played a few different ways and still be good.

Theoretically VT2 is the better trigger compared to VT1. In an ideal world you wouldn’t drop from Level 3 Presidentiality meaning if you’d be running a 3 bar trigger that gives you a slightly better projectile and slightly more combo potential. If you were running VT2 though, that’s two bars and stacks on way more damage at the end of combos than the average VT1 combo. Problem is people aren’t SF gods and are going to get knocked down, so VT1 is more consistent

This is why I'm thinking G will do mad damage at tournaments this year once pros get him tournament ready. If he gets lvl 3 early in the game it's a guaranteed win, cause now you have 3 comeback mechanics on your side(Presidentiality, V Trigger and Critical Art). Plus the corner carry on his V Trigger and Presidentiality moves remind me of OP Season 2 Balrog. Hope Smug can unleash G at CPT

G is top 5. High health, projectile, c. grab, overhead, good normals, incredible VT, V-skill, and EX specials. On top of that, one combo can push you almost full screen into the corner, then it’s game over.
