I have the Illuminator 50M (W-218H-1AVCF). The set button sticks out like the other buttons. I've actually depressed it a few times against my arm. That's annoying. I have the 5600 coming in a few days. I, at this point, am looking forward to not being able to accidentally depress the set button. I can see how the recessed button is annoying too. I guess it's how one chooses to be annoyed 🙂 Thank you very much for your video. Enjoyed it.

Thanks for the comment, Warren. Yes it was an intentional move with the adjust button that I should have called out. I could see how the non-recessed button would also become annoying on your illuminator. Having traveled across the country with the 5600, I can say that I’ve adjusted it to different time zones many times. You just need something like a pen to engage the button and you’re good to go. Glad to hear you picked up the 5600, I think you’ll be happy with it. Thanks for watching

I cut the rubber out around the "adjust" button with a paint razor blade so I could reach it. You can't see the modification. Now it works fine. Yes, Casio should fix this design flaw. September 2022, Amazon had this for $38🤦‍♂️

@ Vincent Jackson, after wearing and testing many models, the "squares" are still my favorite. The problem is they come in so many colors with different features. Doesn't help the addiction.

I think build quality dropped when Casio moved its manufacturing to China. On the other hand, the recessed Adjust button and the two years battery are the only two things that I don't like, otherwise it's perfect.

If that was true then the gshocks a lot of soldiers and police wear wouldn’t even be enough for them. Their QC are fantastic

@ ALIMMOTO. I think what the last person meant about quality was referring to certain models. The housing on my regular 5600 compared to the BB version for example (made in China), seems to be more resistant to use and markings. It's not a deal breaker for me though. I agree with what you're saying. I've had some models for years with hard use and I've never had an issue.

It may have been manufactured in China but my recent purchase of the Casio DW-5600E-1VCT was assembled in Thailand and I love it.

The quality is the same. Same material, same manufacturing process, same quality control...Casio has a reputation to hold, and it would have nothing to gain by undermining its products quality.
