I agree about these bad negative displays. Regarding watch size and band length there are a number of G-shocks who I really like but are too big for my 17cm/6,7 inch wrist. Some models have very long flat distance on backside resulting in big holes on the sides of the wrist. But there are some good news. I recently replaced Rangeman 9400 with Mudman 9500. These watches are very much the same size but Mudman 9500 has ~2cm shorter flat surface on backside which is a significant difference! 9500 provides the fitting I wish 9400 should have had. And: I like your closing words in the video! 👍

Last week I was looking for a watch for my wife, but she dont liked the smaller GA 2100, ended up with a citizen eco-drive one. And I was looking at this GD-B500, available in different colors. I have to tell, I don't like this design, with those extended lugs, and, flimsy construction. Oh and the legibility of that display is zero. The 5610 square is a great watch, similar to the original. But I bought the GW-5000U-1, I think this is the best square at this moment, with stainless steel DLC coated core with a very nice caseback. And the resin band is softer and very flexible. Made in Japan quality, with a great display, solar and multiband 6, no bluetooth. Casio adopted a very different design language lately, created for the younger generations. I also tried on the GA 2300, the ugliest watch with those lugs and a big x on the dial, and the usually hard to read and useless lcd displays.

That’s funny because I tried to get my wife a citizen eco drive but she chose a g-Shock.

@@JimKinkade Nothing wrong with that, we have different preferences in every aspect of our lives. For example I'm not into mechanical watches, I have a few but very little used. Most of the time I use g-shocks at work. My wife likes the elegant tiny ones.

Got the Casio lws-2200 last year for $40, put a strap adapter and 22mm band. Same module , same features except without Bluetooth and traditional positive display

One other option you have is “Give away” 😉 It’d be perfect for my 6” wrist, but damn ! That negative display ! Are you getting 2300 too ? Wish they had added step counter and BT on 2300 which is a cooler watch !

Negative displays are a matter of taste (I like them, depending on the watch). Can’t you switch out bands?

Yes, the band can be removed but the inside lug width is narrow.

Torture test it! Seriously though, I do find the design somewhat appealing but it`s just illegible and too small. Thinness is ok, but width too short. It`s a very cool Baby G though.

A potato bags again, a ''planet saving'' again? Or just a cheapening? Be aware of the reflection at the screen of that watch Jim....a Cartier Tank isn't the same purpose, that was the style, and it was legible. A King is not comparable at all, that's another level. (a King with the positive screen) It seems to me like that's more like a fashion thing, not the real deal... (that's why I ordered the good old 10 years old Mudman and not he GBD) 5610 is not at the same rank like the GBD, 5610 is the legend, not without the reason off course
