With due respect for you sir, you are spreading false information about Goans. I am a Goan Hindu, I don't drink, my catholic friends don't drink. In Goa 60% are Hindus and 30% Christians 10% others mostly Muslims. Total Goa was not under Portugal rule for 450 years, only 3 taluks out of 12 were under Portugal control where maximum population is Christian due to force convertion. 9 taluks were under Maratha rule, when Maratha rule collapsed 9 taluks came under Portugal rule. If Chatrapati Shivaji and his son Sambhaji never existed , history would have been different not only Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka would have been under Portugal rule and they would have forcefully converted everyone to Christian. Goans speak different type of Konkani depending on caste, religion and regions but Christian were using Portuguese as language of reading and writing, now they use English. While maximum Hindus use Marathi for reading and writing and for religious and cultural purpose. Ganesh festival is popular festival as 90 % Goan houses bring idol for 5 to 7 days. During Shravan and Chaturthi days, Hindus even if he is drunkard, he will strictly keep himself away from alcohol and non veg food.
