The point is: Caps (and G2) are the only ones giving it their all to outperform not only regional teams, but LCK and LPL. Caps thinks that without proof that it can actually happen, the entire region will never feel like that "anyone" can do it. It's called pioneering, in many sports someone needs to break a record and soon after it will be broken by many others. The only thing worse than losing hope (Caps after S10) is never having hope to begin with (All of EU). If there is real hope, hard work means something. So you're right, at the time of this interview, he's giving us hope for Caps. But when he finally realises his dream (with 4 other EU players), it will change everything. This doesn't mean EU would then suddenly have the same average quality as LCK/LPL, but more players that will actually tryhard for their lives, giving the League better competition and eventually more teams that make deep runs in tournaments

You will need to be gifted on top of grinding the game to death to compete against top teams who have way better and more disciplined competition. In other words, players like caps (generational players) need to come along to pioneer. The "problem" right now is that G2 grinds harder than any other EU team, creating the same scenario all over again but regionally. Unless another team imitates G2's work ethic and gets access to other important knowledge, G2 will literally suffer from success because nobody seriously expects to win anytime soon, stifling their own improvement. Anyway, if G2 wins worlds, it will mean that beating G2 regionally implies chances to win worlds. Scrimming the world champ is probably the most motivating experience a pro could have. Young players want a spot more to get a chance to do that. Etc. Etc. Etc. I don't think EU will ever deliver consistent international results as LCK/LPL, but isn't all we really want 1? And some years of hype bo5s after that?

@@CantIllaoiThathonestly Lillia in game 1 Vs T1 was not bad to begin with. The issue was BB and caps throwing their early leads with a couple overly aggressive positionings/plays. Lillia is a great threat offensively and if executed well, they could've 100% won game 1 Vs T1, but unfortunately they threw leads on too many occasions and couldn't come back from the defecit they created . The final game with bel Beth on the other hand? Fair enough, he was useless there and literally did nothing all game and went behind.

i was thinking this during the series. After losing to NRG at Worlds and this latest LEC split looking pretty weak across the board, Ive been losing a lot of hope in my regions ability to compete in international. I was dreading that they would just go out 0-3 every series. the series vs T1, despite being a loss, was a great relief to me as it proved that they CAN compete

With the level of practice they get domestically, it's a great accomplishment for G2 to even play a close series vs top Asian teams and shows how dedicated the players and staff must be to improvement. They played T1 close, if they can beat TES it will be a great MSI showing.
