Lomi should have the "sawsawan". Sawsawan has to be made before the lomi arrives It usually is a squeezed calamansi, crushed chilies and soy sauce, sometimes there ae raw onions. I usuallt put that on top of the lomi and i do not mix it with the sawsawan but sometimes some peopl do that

special lomi got nothing to do with ingredients i think. the server is talking about the size of the bowl so i guess special has just bigger volume
@Khrysie10 ай бұрын
No. The caregiver, who is a local, explained that it is the toppings that make the lomi special. So yeah it is all about the ingredients.
@TimelessFoodTravels10 ай бұрын
That would make sense based on the way I was shown the size of the bowl. However if you watch the whole video, you'll see the two bowls of standard lomi and "special" lomi side by side, in the same type of bowl. What made my wife's bowl of lomi special was all the extra toppings including quail itlog, pork liver and chicharon that were resting on top of it, while the standard lomi, which came in the same sized bowl, did not have any of those extra toppings. This is the question I was trying to get answered from the waitress as well as one of the chefs, both of whom did not know how to answer me.

Thanks for coming to my rescue Khrysie!
@Kingoftheland-cc6ss10 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think you can see on the menu that special lomi is "special" because of the extra stuff they put in there. Kind of funny that none of the staff were able to understand or answer that question 😅
@RielleApegoСағат бұрын
@@Khrysiethe toppings are almost the same only that it has more toppings because the bowl is bigger as well. But if you want all the toppings go for the overload or the biggest bowl they offer.

Those workers are dumb, I guess they're not even finished the grade school 😕 that's what the most older generation who didn't went to school well, unlike the kids nowadays even just a 3rd grader could communicate in English well.
@TimelessFoodTravels8 ай бұрын
It was pretty disappointing that there was THIS level of miscommunication. When I see that someone is struggling to understand what I'm saying, I usually to express myself as slowly and as clearly as possible. In this case, that was just not enough.
@cocomine88978 ай бұрын
@@TimelessFoodTravels I think what he's trying to say is, he doesn't want to share their secret recipes for business strategy 🤔 Do you know why there are some people who can't communicate in English well? because the Filipino people are mostly shy type person and some were became introvert because of shyness and lack of confidence, that's why most of the insufficient English speakers exists.
@TimelessFoodTravels8 ай бұрын
that could be it, or it also could be that the staff at the restaurant just had such a massive nose bleed at the thought of describing their own dish in English that all they could do is point to the bowl that it comes in. Could be either way though.
