The only mags I have ever had a problem with were Pmags. I use only steel mags now.

Bought a Zastava M90, and am quickly learning that fitment of the few components is a must. Generally beautiful to operate. The one issue I am unsure of diagnosis is, when I slowly release the trigger to reset, it will immediately release the trigger. There is no opportunity to pause after reset and pull the trigger. It looks as though the sear(?) does not engage the trigger much and may have a positive slope instead of neutral or negative. Working the trigger group manually, there is available motion for the sear to engage the trigger completely, but whatever force would cause this is overcome before that is reached. Altering the faces doesn't seem possible as there is a shortage of material, not an excess. Bad geometry, buy a new trigger group?

You sure it's not a binary trigger? They are designed to shoot on pull and release?
@draftplus4 ай бұрын
@@G2niverse Definitely not a binary trigger. Though it acts like one. Stock AK. The more I cycle and try, the better it is working. I'll disassemble, clean and lube. I can't see any mechanical reason for it not holding reset.

the dimples do _NOT_ stabilize the magine. That's what mag stabilizers are for.
@G2niverse3 жыл бұрын
eric van tassell sorry but you are incorrect. They DO stabilize the magazine. If you read the original manual (in Russian) AK-47 Kalashnikov Assault Rifle Manual Book it clearly denotes the dimples as both magazine stabilizers AND structural components to strengthen the receiver. I'm guessing you have a CA wasr10 which does not have dimples. because they use a newer method which has a tab which is milled down after import because of the US single stack magazine laws.
@ericvantassell68093 жыл бұрын
1) please send a link if you can. I do read russian 2) bad guess. i do not now and never had a wasr. Since the dimples are _not_ proud of the mag stabilizers on 922r compliant receivers, they can't stabilize the mag. Since on Russian and Bulgarian 5.45x39 rifles the dimples and the stabs are deeper, the dimples can have some effect. I look forward to seeing a source that says this was true of russian manufactured receivers for 7.62x39
@G2niverse3 жыл бұрын
You can literally google "ak47 dimples" to see exactly what I'm referring to and as for the original manual, there is no free link for that...you can do like I did and purchase your own. Its about $12 on amazon or ebay.
@ericvantassell68093 жыл бұрын
ok, no free link :-(. if it doesn't cost you more than a minute or two, can you just post a pic of the relevant section of the manual? I also checked 2 polish receivers and again the dimples are below the level of the mag stabilizers but they're not russian
@ericvantassell68093 жыл бұрын
I did find this which may be from the manual you're talking about but the drawing only calls out the thickness of the material in the dimpled area and it's not clear "by eyeballing it" if the soviet dimples extended to equal depth of the stabilizer. A good starting point is to get the rivet kit from akbuilder for your particular set. Then just measure the rivet holes and get the matching drill bit size. Its how I set up every build. I would also suggest purchasing reamers for the same sizes to ensure your holes are perfectly round.

@@G2niverse what’s the trigger and hammer pins size drill bits again?
@G2niverse3 жыл бұрын
depends on the side...since the pins have a head on them, the tail end is 5mm and the head is 7mm. The tail end goes into the side with the safety/fire selector (right side) and the head goes into the side with the X and Y stamped on them (left side)

what causes my ak to fail to extract. I have tried multiple brands of mags both plastic and steel. I can't get past firing 1 or two rounds without malfunction. I have tried tul ammo I have purchased nice brass ammo no matter what ammo I use still fails to extract. I have tried polishing the hammer face and still nothing. I have tried different brand magazines both plastic and metal.

I would go with the obvious...the extractor and ejector. You probably need to rebuild and/or completely clean the bcg. I did have a video out but YT killed it because it was about scary aks.
