The intro to “I’m The One” is quite the challenge. Not just playing the notes accurately but playing them in a rhythmical way that makes the riff ‘swing’. Eddie’s timing and rhythm were impeccable.

Few get it right because they miss the swing and just go for the rapid fire picking. But, there's breath between those strokes, and that's where the swing lives.

The ED solo on ICE CREAM MAN is a hell of a stretch configuration which goes laterally down all the strings....fast WIDE intervals. Also on some of Beat It solo, & on his ascending run solo on 'The Full Bug' ....You feel 'arthritis' coming on just in the attempt. I believe Ed had been listening to & watching Allan Holdsworth even as far back as 1978 & I believe this was influencing the big interval stretches Ed was doing...

HANGEM' HIGH....the intro is so dynamic and timed to Ed's way of alternating notes to create a loopy swing note effect...to this day I still struggle trying to keep that run uniform and punchy....Go Satch!!!
