I was in high school when the Wii came out and I wanted it so badly. I binged on G4 content everyday during the holiday of 2006. I tried to get the Wii, but every store was sold out. I got the Xbox 360 arcade instead. I remember being so mad at Nintendo at the time and fed up with the system not being in any store. I was a diehard who wanted to experience Twilight Princess with motion controls, and the fucking rubes who got the system were using it to play Wii sports. I was so mad at Nintendo. Well jokes on Nintendo because my Xbox 360 was a fantastic truly next-gen system that... red ring of death. Damn it all. Great upload!

Holy shit. Memories that will forever stick with you. I remember I would walk into my local Meijer and they would hand out tickets, seemed like 5-10 at a time during the first couple of months. People would be sitting in chairs in the electronic section.

I remember waiting in line at a Walmart for like 8 hours just to get a Wii on launch day. It was 100% worth it. I also think the GameCube was underrated, so many good games while being technologically superior to the PS2. Such a shame it didn't sell well, people really didn't know what they missed out on.

I like both the Wii and GameCube but the Wii is better imo because it has GameCube backwards compatibility, which makes owning a GameCube kind of pointless imo.

I still watch this at times. As well as the Xbox 360 and, PS3 release coverage. And the old X Play, AOTS. The 7th gen just might be my all-time favorite gen of gaming. Was in my mid 20's when the 7th gen systems were released. Had bought the 360 when it first came out. Then bought my house. Shortly after, the PS3 and Wii were released. Was unable to buy them day one. But luckily within the first few months. I cashed out vacation hours to buy both the Wii & PS3 (on Craigslist 😂). My son was 5yrs old. And we both went crazy over the 360, Wii and PS3. Still to this day we play them pretty regularly.

I remember I preordered the wii mad early cos I knew it was going to be hot. After Nintendo had those Mall Demo units the preorderes went through the roof!! Then Nintendo gave Westfield extra Wii's so people could line up the day of and get one. What are you talking about? 249.99 was a great price for one of the best consoles ever. It was way cheaper than the 360 and PS3. It has some amazing hidden gems and had the best online store back then. Sure the points system kind of sucked, but you got the best of 5 systems from the past and the Wiiware suervice.

@Chris I'd say the price is about right, and I also feel that no console should cost more than 400$. I mean, the money is made in the software, so sell the hardware cheaper (it will just take up space anyway). Sure, companies may take a loss on the hardware, but that tends to happen when it comes to electronic technology.
