This is a video about the G5RV Multi Band HF Dipole presented to the Brandon Amateur Radio Society (BARS) in Brandon, FL on May 18, 2017. It looks at the performance of a G5RV design on the HF Amateur Radio Bands using computer modeling.

Bravo to you for this presentation. This is probably the best math and theory regarding the G5RV on KZbin. I learned a lot. Thanks de KE0RFZ.

How nice it is to hear a purely scientific review and academic English, without these American exercises for the larynx)) A great antenna, I’ll probably install it in my dacha so that all the neighbors will be surprised again. 73, see you! Anton (UA3NDX)

How do you get 0.11db of loss in the coax @14:30 ? I thought when coax companies test their coax they send a constant tone at X megahertz with a 50ohm load on the coax to represent ideal conditions, your example has less loss than ideal 50ohm loads.

It seems like you could avoid the coax losses by running the ladder line directly into a true balanced tuner.

Absolutely. G5RV designed his aerial primarily to work on 20 metres. The 'multi' came later. There is no point whatsoever for a specific length of feeder *if* the intention is to use it as a multi-band antenna used with an aerial matching unit.

@David White A fortuitous coincidence, useful to many over the years.

Have you ever used the 204ft G5RV which can be used on 160-6 meters.

Does NO ONE use a standard (store bought) G5RV? It is 102 ft. long, not 106 '. It is NEVER to be used on 160 Meters UNLESS REWIRED to be a Marconi antenna with a HUGE ground plane and the two wire feeder shorted together to form a flat topped antenna with two "L" shaped antennas fed from 33.5 ' below and a ground (NEVER to be used on a regular G5RV at the base of the antenna). de KQ2E

Why did you extend the top section? It works fine with 102ft.
