Companies frequently reinvent the wheel on metrics, but in practice, 80%+ of the metrics most relevant to a business could be standardized across business models. This "arbitrary uniqueness" has a huge opportunity cost for data teams which could be spending their time on the long-tail of metrics and insights that can't be standardized. This is where the open-source SOMA standard comes into play.
