This video is gold. Many traditional arts have been watered down & diversified over generations & generations but I think the older the generation, the purer because in ancient times, people actually used those skills to defend their lands & lives. Now a refere will tell you what strikes are allowed for the show.

There are no such thing as original styles, styles are inherited by fighters who learn from other fighters by trading notes, soldiers are exposed to different martial arts through warfare and occasionally people go on pilgrimage to get education from renown soldiers or martial artists. Martial arts are always traded from one person to another.

Nope. Wars were fought with weapons not empty handed. And ancient Muay Thai was mainly used in the ring(sand arena) as Muay Boran was a combat sport. It started as a blood sport for royalty to watch and between villages. Also Muay Thai today is superior to old Muay boran due to modern sports science and generations of experience that refined the skills. Just look up old Muay Thai fights from the 1920s on KZbin. They are using old boran style .....and it's ugly and unrefined

I'm spend 40 yr learning different style of kickboxing. if I can live forever I would go to Thailand learn everything to start my library collection of books of kickboxing styles. In the 90s there was website I use to visit to learn application I forgot the style of Muay Boran was it.. what style is this ? 0:36 looks like a move I learn in Yaw yan and FMA, i like that move. Muay Chaiya is the prefect style for me becuase it's very minisltic move that make the attacker get hurt like a porcupine, I study catch wrestling that doesn't look like catch wrestling , might be Japanese jujitsu or judo. 9:13 looks like Silat I dabble a little in silat that triangle on the floor I'm familiar with it. 16:30 hahaha Aikido that's interesting art to combine. Mauy Letrit is badass style I learn a bit of that style together with Mauy mat I think. 22:07 I got couple of his books. Muay sangha I use to watch all his videos on youtube back in the days.

It's funny seeing White foreigners creating Mauy Boran styles. Especially as I don't know Mauy Boran to be as popular globally as say, Kung Fu or Karate. However, if the guys are doing justice and respect to the style they have the right to I think. Enjoyable and deeply detailed video. I quite liked it.

@GaawutProductions3 ай бұрын
@@matthew6966 The Pahuyut fraud has been exposed around a decade ago by a famous SEA martial arts group on Facebook and the Muay Chaiya's Grand Master Lek, it was also expose on Reddit by the Muay Thai community and I believe the thread is still on. Some old styles still conserved are Muay Korat by Bua Wat Im, Muay Thasao from the Liangprasert family (not of Chalong Liangprasert), and Native Muay Chaiya still conserved in Chaiya. There are also other masters from other lines but they are hard to find and they will probably not teach to foreigners.

Idk man i heard the muay buron styles are not real. Kinda how after the cultural revolution in china with all those kung fu styles and those in movies are conpletely made up
@GaawutProductions2 ай бұрын
@@The_Okami Muay Boran styles are real but have been recognized only in the last decades. In the past Muay fighters didn't say "I'm a Muay Chaiya practitioner" or "I'm a Muay Korat practitioner", the name was just Muay. In the last 50 years, in order to preserve the lines, there has been a deep study and differentiation of the various lines and their characteristics. A common misconception, as explained in the video, is that there was a single style for each region, that's not correct, and the proper way to refer to a style is to refer to the founder or a prominent masters (Muay Korat of Bua Wat Im, Muay Chaiya of Khet Sriyapai, Muay Taweesit etc...).
I saw a Google page where they talked about a Greek master of Boran, I don't remember the name but I'm proud of it
