Poor Byleth, they got so much hate simply due to them being from fe. I feel like had they been from any other series, they would have been well liked. I personally think their kit is hilarious, especially the bow where you can straight up deny people from ledge.

I completely see why Nintendo wants to represent Fire Emblem too, it’s pretty much their only popular long-lasting title that has completely new main characters each new game. If there was (somehow) a new Mario game that focused on an entirely new player character, Nintendo would want them in Smash, I don’t see why Fire Emblem should be much different, especially in Nintendo’s eyes

@@gamedifficulty_4230 because they keep adding sword users...thats the main problem, even i, a person who has never played a FE game know s theres a lot more types of weapons (and yes byleth has "diferent weapons" but isnt the same), spears axes bows and what not, people have made lists of other characters wo would be better while still being a FE representative, but nintendo (mostly them) just keep pushing the main character wich always happens to be a main sword users just inflating the "sword" users mroe and more. If byleth instead have been an axe or spear users i can asure you, the backlash would have been way lower. People also feel FE its been pushes way to much already, specially since nintendo has a ton of other IPs that could use sloth for extra recognition, or hell, add another 3rd party character, people went absolutly nuts with banjo terry and even the DQ hero got a nice warm welcome to the rooster

If the problem was with sword users, they would have complained when cloud got in. Or there would’ve been a whole lot of backlash when the dragon quest hero got in. Or they would have complained win sephiroth got in. My point is, the smash community despises fire emblem with a passion. Or I should say a certain part of the smash community. Just like i despise that certain part of the smash Community with a passion.

0:55 yup thats definitely what i did on my 1st attempt of my golden deer playthrough on New Game plus, ive used renowns to set all the students support level with professor to B so they just all left the black eagles and blue lion house to join golden deer, and more of all on chapter 7 battle of eagles and lions, the black eagles and blue lions were filled by nameless units only Edelgard, Hubert, Dedue and Dimitri were all thats left as playable students exclusive to their own house, i have no regret from stealing every students from Black Eagles, and Blue Lions especially that nobody will have to die in casual mode other than Edelgard, Hubert, Dimitri and Dedue

Short answer: They’re different enough. Even Mario and Luigi have very different movesets. I think the real problem is that there’s “too many sword users,” and Fire Emblem just so happens to be the number one culprit. Were it not so, I think Fire Emblem would be better received. Now, I don’t agree with all the hate, to be clear, but at the same time I KINDA get it.
