Sure but that version of Mario kart introduced "Smart" driving/steering, so if we assume he relied on this, bc if you were racing on tracks where there was a high chance you would drop into the abyss, space, ice- or contaminated water or even lava, you'd would leave that shit on, to prevent those horrifying scenarios, no matter how patronising it is! Sky Link had to deal with that danger though, since he was first in the more hard-core version, which still had fire hopping and other more advanced stuff, so can bet your ass he was more skilled, bc he had to be, + riding a bird through rings, debris, enemie/past, other kinds of obstacles and such seems like a more impressive feat to me, than just riding a super advanced and likely automatic and secure bike, if I'm honest.
