I hate it! it was prescribed back in 2008 for nerve pain after a back injury, then I was told it was for my mental health, getting off that crap is the worst.

I was at 3600mg/day, down to 300mg/day... I too was put on it as a 'mood stabilizer"... it's made life hell, I feel like I have dementia.

Gabapentin helped me through day1 of hydromorphone withdrawal, An opiate with a short half life that have withdrawals that kick in after 8 hours but pass in 3 to 4 days. It doesn't help for everything, but all the initial symptoms like restless legs, thermo regulation and that feeling your body is crawling out of your skin, it will take care of that. The key is to stop Gabapentin after just a few days. Long term can make restless legs worse in the long run.

Would 100mgs gaba work for maybe 4-5 days opioid withdrawal? The only thing I get are those restless leg syndrome. Once I get past that it’s a piece a cake . But wondering if gaba helps with that . Also I only get that restlessness at night before sleep . How does it make u feel btw ? Help with anxiety too ?

I don't even know why I'm still on it! Dr say I need it for whatever. I've never abused it nor do I want to try.I'm in recovery since 2013 and it messes with my brain being on it

getting off is mentally terrible, taper soon if u can because the longer you go down that road the farther you have to travel back to normal when u finally turn around friend.

Your brain needs to heal after all that "recovery"... I was prescribed like a month after getting sober, it slowly became more difficult to function over time.

Benzos are absolutely NOT the way to get off of anything . I live with someone addicted to benzos and as him being a doctor saying he would use benzos over gabapentin , he's probably one of those doctors that they pay to push benzo scripts , just like doctors were pushed and paid more to give out opiates and now look at everyone , I can't believe a doctor of his stature would even say this .

I understand some of what he says but u can tell he would rather u go through hell than help manage. I was for years on tramadol and the withdrawal always took me back it’s worse than y’all think. Tramadol is good for very very short times. I begged for years Clonodine or anything to atleast help and I did get that it helps some so I went to a np and she was so kind talked to the dr and he gave me a small Amt and omg. So this guys approach no matter what he says is for u to suffer maybe so u won’t go back but trust me it don’t take it all away it’s brutal

@@blxkee I've been on klonopin for 6 years. I've stabilized at 1 mg now. I'm going to start a milk liquid taper. I've been cold turkeyed in a hospital and I didnt think I was going to survive. I also know how I feel when I dont dose on time. Nausea, dp/ dr, tremor, tachycardia, BP spikes, visual problems....so needless to say I'm scared shitless. Buy, I have a feeling, with the way our country is going, the are going to stop prescribing. Gut feeling it's coming soon. Sorry for rambling. I wish you the best 💗

how long do you keep them on that replacement therapy? Iv had friends on suboxone and methadone for 10 plus years now, and they can't get off that cause now their addicted to it. No doctors wanna wein them down and off cause that means no more money. All that mat stuff aint nothing but doctors wanting people to stop spending their money on street drugs and spend it with them.

U have to eat like 6-7 at a time of 800 mg ull be good no restless legs no nothing ull sleep no vomiting or atleast it helped me. Im not a docter tho
