In this video, we’re returning to the original purpose of our KZbin channel which was communicating with our students. We hope that others can benefit from the interaction and follow this journey from a different perspective. The goal is to show Gabby’s progress with her horse over the course of the next few months. So here’s the sneak peek into her second homework assignment. For more information, visit our website, www.thediscipl... . Lovely horse for Gabby. He is a great find. I am so glad Gabby decided to just let the spotted one live out his days in peace and appreciate that she didnt just sell him off. In the wrong hands he could have been abused. Bless yiu Gabby.

Thank you so much for your kindness. I’ll keep Homer for the rest of his years, but he won’t ever be saddled again & that’s ok.

I agree with @Livefreejeeper! Every video I learn something and so grateful to be able to learn from you Pat! I didn't know about Ray Hunt, The Dorrance Brothers until I saw the movie Buck. I don't know how I didn't know about them before, because I knew about John Lyons, and Monty Roberts 25 years ago, so I'm a late comer to the Ranch Horse party. Your knowlege and example is better than precious metals to me! Thank you! God Bless You Pat, Deb, the Horses and All of "The Disciplined Ride" Family! Sheri

I am 80 years old and back in my day Bill and Tom Dorrance along with Ray Hunt were the few names to know. Since then beyond the few others you mentioned I like Deb Bennett Ph.D who knew both Ray Hunt and Tom Dorrance and of course our hosts here Pat and Deb Puckett. 👍

So cool seeing Pat take all the tack off. It’s simple, every day task, but as a new guy around horses, it was fascinating to watch. I love this channel

Thank you Pat and Deb! I've just started my new rising 3 year old Clydesdale cross colt and have been following your videos. A few days ago I roped his front feet and got him to lead with both after about 20 minutes with him. Today I roped his hind feet and had him happily hipshod with his left hind after about 5 minutes. His right hind took about 15 minutes to get it after he stopped kicking in protest, You're right, when your horse gets it and it becomes easy with no worry to him then that is worth the world to me. My youngster is a lot like your Chinaco in that you can see him going through all kinds of emotions before he finally thinks it through and then gets it. Can't thank you both enough from me and my young colt. Cheers Bindi

This horse is a pal. Gabby did good in buying him. Homer might eventually have become somewhat rehabbed on his good days with one, and only one, consistent and patient owner who was always ready to anticipate his triggers - and he's all triggers - but he'll always be a highly reactive animal with serious hangups. His behavior was bound to get him or whoever was handling him injured someday. Good change for both him and Gabby, who is very generous to let us watch her horses be the subjects of Pat and Deb's videos.

What is your opinion on cinch with roller? In TN is very humid, and the latigo sticks and does not slide well and the roller doesnt seem to help. (Gabby did good with this one)

I'm also here in humid upper east Tennessee. I use mohair cinches without rollers, but I've had some rollers too. What works for me is pulling latigo toward me and slightly up to tighten cinch. Doesn't seem to hang up that way. I also wipe the latigo down with rag after every ride or else it stays gunky. If it's really humid, I might blow fan on it a few minutes before putting latigo back up. #1 tip is DO NOT use baby powder/talc on latigo in humid weather. It gunks up like you wouldn't believe! High humidity is the reason I've gone to beta biothane bridles instead of leather after many years. They don't mold, dry rot or stay damp. However, if you have a very well insulated tack area with dehumidifier, your leather will keep better. What part of TN? Hope this helped you

We put a liberal amount of baby powder on the length of the latigo to help it slide smoothly. We don’t use roller buckles.
