I agree that I don’t see a future where we would actually ban and burn all books either, but I was willing to suspend my disbelief since it’s supposed to be metaphorical for censorship, technology, etc. I need to re-read this book, it’s been several years since I picked it up. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and great job pushing through booktubeathon!!

I can’t listen to audiobook in that speed. The voice sounds very robotic and it would distract me from the actual story.

yeah but I can get through a long audiobook in half the time so it's worth it for me! And the regular speed is too slow it bores me

The first line to Fahrenheit 451 is so iconic. I liked it a lot more as an adult than I did when I first read it in middle school.

Bradbury’s writing style is very weird. His conversations with his wife were stilted but I think it was supposed to demonstrate the drastic difference between her and Guy.

I couldn't listen to a book at that speed. Sister is awesome. I miss my 3 sisters, sister in law, & 4 nieces. They're in Ireland and In in London

Great vlog👍🏽, loved your Fahrenheit 451 review I like how you ask thought provoking questions “does knowledge make you unhappy.” In other words is ignorance bliss? Something I’ve pondered and I think it is. The down side of course is tyrannical and oppressive governments or regimes thrive on people’s ignorance. You hit the nail on the head when you said the government in the book was afraid of the citizens having knowledge because it equals power. Un-informed ignorant citizens are easier to manipulate with propaganda and less likely to question things therefore less likely to rebel.There were some awkward exchanges of dialogue, a few times I had to reread some of the sentences to figure out what they were talking about but there were also some great lines, I like the quotes you chose. My favorite dialogue is near the end with Granger when he talks about the death of his grandfather and how he cried not so much for him but for all the things he did and how no one would ever do those things quite the same as his grandfather did. He goes on to say “he shaped the world, he did things to the world. The world was bankrupted of ten million fine actions the night he passed on” . It made me think of the loved ones I’ve lost. Yeah as much as I like M.B.Jordan and M. Shannon the movie was very “meh” I didn’t think the changes they made worked. OMG your dog Phoenix is gorgeous, she’s so big now does she still try to use your books as chew toys😣🙂. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us 🤗

I completed 4 books out of 7. I'm proud of myself. The two I enjoyed the most was Rebel Heir & Rebel Heart by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward. It was a duology

What app are you using to listen to Boy Erased? The one thing that I'm sad about with audible is that I can listen at 1.5 or 2 but nothing in between! Listening at 1.75 would be fast and perfect!
@rloelchavo1432
@rloelchavo1432 6 жыл бұрын
becklepanda I use audible too and I noticed on my Samsung tablet which runs on Android I can increase the speed in increments of .5 (1.5, 1.55, 1.6, etc.) but on my iPhone which runs on IOS I’m in the same boat as you 1.5 or 2.0 nothing in between. So if you have an android device you could probably adjust the speed to your liking. I think she’s using the overdrive app ( I’ve never used it)and it looks like she has an iPhone so maybe that app has adjustable speed regardless of the device.
