Quick thing I want to make sure is clear... The MPC software includes all the new stuff from the 2.10 update, including the plugins. And, because this is software, you can load in your own plugins as well.

You can also use the touch strip to adjust the volume of any pad by pressing the touch strip button, then using the data wheel to go to "Pad Level" parameter, then use strip to adjust...instead of having to use mode>>pad or channel mixer... Awesome feature for mixing- as you already know.

The now discontinued MPC touch might actually be a better deal if you can find a used one. It has the exact same “face” (and touchscreen) as the MPC live mk1, but contrary to the MPC Studio mk2, it also includes an audio interface. It also came with the MPC 2 software, but the launch MSRP was way higher at $799.

Is this one better to justify adjusting to what you've learned on the MPC One or is this not a problem to begin with?

@ALMIGHTY KCLAYTOVEN I haven't used FL in a while. I mostly used Ableton. But I think MPC Studio can be used like Ableton, Cubase, or Logic. You can use your mouse to create beats, but I also like how I can bang out beats naturally almost as if I were using a hardware MPC. The software and the controller seem like they are a perfect match whereas most midi controllers work well with most DAWs but there are always a few minor things that might be missing or something. If you are mostly using a mouse to program then FL is super great but I am fascinated with learning how to use the pads and mouse together. I do not think I would want to only use hardware.

I don't remember the model off the top of my head, but it's a gaming laptop. It's been able to handle anything I've thrown at it so far. I've been able to get low latency out of cheaper laptops in the past with ASIO drivers, but I definitely used to hit pops and clicks more often with those than I have with the gaming laptop.

Will this work without using the MPC Software. Like a basic midi controller. The old studio didn’t work unless you had the software.
@GabeMillerMusic
@GabeMillerMusic 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure, I'd have to try it. But I imagine at least the pads would be playable with anything. Custom features probably wouldn't cleanly map to other DAW functions though. If I recall correctly, you can use the MPC software as a plugin in your DAW of choice, but I'd need to double check that.

@GabeMillerMusic
@GabeMillerMusic Жыл бұрын
Yeah that's latency. You can try installing ASIO drivers (free) and make sure the MPC software is running on them. You can also try decreasing your buffer size in your audio settings but your mileage might vary on that. If you decrease it too much you'll get pops and clicks.
@MoparVsWorld
@MoparVsWorld Жыл бұрын
@@GabeMillerMusic do you have a link to the drivers? I installed the ones that you get during registration. I’m working off of a MacBook Air 2017. Idk if maybe I need a newer laptop with a newer OS. I tried adjust the latency and buffer settings but I still get a delay. So frustrating.

How do you feel about getting something like this over the MPC One or Akai Live 2? I really like the idea of a standalone but its literally 6 times as expensive! LOL
@joshualane1716
@joshualane1716 3 жыл бұрын
I personally love the flexibility of the Live 2. You can literally use it anywhere, no PC, no power, no speakers. I can make beats in my bed, on the couch, at a park, whereever. It is a steep price though, especially compares to this.
@MaxRosewater
@MaxRosewater 3 жыл бұрын
@@joshualane1716 Yeah I know, I feel the freedom and having the investment though could be worth it just because of the endless opportunity of the Live 2. I've been eyeing it for forever and was about to shoot on it, but of course this shit comes out and now im second guessing myself LOL. You definitely have a point though it's awesome to go DAWless because i'm so bored of staring at logic
@joshualane1716
@joshualane1716 3 жыл бұрын
@@MaxRosewater The Studio is understandably tempting at that price, but it is just a controller, so you'll still need a DAW (where as the One/Live II are obviously stand alone but also work as a controller and come with MPC Live). But yeah, I personally chose the Live II. I had prordered the One, but they pretty quickly announced the Live II, so I canceled and switched. While you're at it, take a look that Synthstrom Deluge and Teenage Engineering OP-1. They're slightly cheaper than the Live II but great grooveboxes.

Save the money and get a One or Live. Cost of a Controller plus cost of laptop does not compare to the price of the a standalone unit.

I have watched many of your vids , they are as excellent as your finger drumming. Because I'm a complete newbie to this , I'm almost afraid to ask ,excuse me for mot knowing the correct terminology : did I think you mentioned that you were able to bring in some of your own samples into the software , is that correct? Because all I want to do with this is play some chord progressions add drums & my own sounds , like dialogue from old movies /etc. - chop them to play on the pads then stem it all out to my daw for adding my real instruments. If you can decipher this please let me know . stay creative .
@GabeMillerMusic
@GabeMillerMusic 2 жыл бұрын
Yep, you should be able to do exactly that. You can bring in your own samples, chop stuff, process stuff, play/record parts, there are even chord banks built in so you can load in an instrument or sample and then have one-pad chords. And then yes you can stem all that out, which I personally prefer to do for both MPC and Maschine stuff (in my case to bring it into Reaper).
