Actually, I think she has got some awesome techniques, which are not always displayed due to the "tightness" and the "safe-playing" that high level bouts demand. Check out her sparring session with Marcelo Garcia, she almost takes his back.

I think Gabi has some sort of condition. Gigantism maybe? Idk for sure. Also, she puts in time and work on the mats everyday. THAT is how she got her black belt. Oh yeah, she got her black belt under Fabio Gurgel. If you know the name, you KNOW Fabio is one of the most respected BJJ competitors and coaches of ALL TIME. I think I am going to side with Fabio and his judgement on this one! Gabi is indeed a legit technically skilled black belt who also happens to be big and strong!

its high level jiu jitsu black belts. size and strength matter, but technicality should win out unless that person who has the size and strength is technical as well. I have seen 135lb guys take on 200+ lbs and win through technque, especially at the higher belt levels.

What style is that? Anyhow the TALL Lady impresses. She had been in control over the little Lady thought the small one could have advantages. The Lady in the blue gi is surely a lion-heart fighter.

Yeah she's a big girl and she's extremely strong ... but she's also technically VERY good. I'm not sure how big a guy you are but even if you 6'8" and 300lbs I'd bet my house that she could make you unconscious or crying on the ground like a baby in under 10 seconds. Gabrielle is as serious superwoman.

@arenasrafael84 yeah thats why Brock Lesnar would kick every brazilian blackbelts ass in a BJJ fight.. cause in Jiu Jitsu you don't need technique if you're big and strong. Grow up man, Gabi got her BB because of her technical skills, not cause of her weight

@mateah83 brock would take almost any bjj black belt to a draw no gi and beat the others on takedown points.But thats a lifetime wrestling,4 yrs no gi and incerdible physical strength and conditioning .Gabby has technical ability but hardly needs to use it shes so much stronger and bigger than all other women.The womens standard is terrible in general anyway,womens judo is a great standard but bjj terrible.Id be confident rousey would destroy the mundials if she concentrated on that format.
