The games are pretty similar, nobody can argue on that. But for the true question is, gray aliens or lovecraftien sea monsters. I go for the second one.
@jothainАй бұрын
@krux02 2nd is more like re-skin of original with added difficulty. Both are good games. Though I personally like first one much more, cause it doesn't have annoying levels like ships etc. where occasionally can be way too much hunt for the last alien

There is a period in every industry's life where the industry is still young.....people are free to create and imagination is key to success. Then it is all taken over by megacorporations and we get the same fast food every year. Thanks EA, thanks Bethesda, Thanks Microsoft and the untold others.

@Nat3_H1gg3rs I never believed in automation. I think it pretty much takes the soul away from anything. A painting, a poem, a song reflects the human condition. Now I see chat gpt write essays for students. I really must be an old man though I'm not even 40 but I dislike this new world. Imagine your meal not being cooked by your loving wife (or whoever) but is served by a robot and you eat the same food as everybody around you. Luckily I won't be here to see all that. I mean why do we even need humans then?

Technically, any game designed to play on versions of Windows through 95 (arguably 98), are still MS-DOS games. They just boot from a Windows environment, but it's not required. Which would expand this list to include Heroes of Might and Magic III, and later, better versions of Civilization, not to mention a slew of other strategy games.

I still regularly play Master of Magic, a strategy game from the DOS era. It even recently got a Windows version called Master of Magic for Windows, and a DLC called Caster of Magic for Windows (exact name), which fixes many of the bugs and imbalances, and actually becomes a deep and challenging strategy game.

I have never played it, I will give it a try, it sounds a nice game.
@sziklamester12444 ай бұрын
And it is still better than what came after. I have spent thousands of hours only on Master of Magic and the Orion series. Caster of Magic is a good touch and while I have no problem with the remake it is clearly just a reimagination of the old one with different flavor.

Sim Ant was more of strategy game than some on this list but it’s technically a Simulation genre.
@sziklamester12444 ай бұрын
Sim Ant was partly strategy indeed but more or less it was a colony simulation game same with most of the sim series. Sim city was more or less the most strategic type of it. I liked Simlife and Sim Earth aswell which was more or less a simulation like the late successor Spore.
@tommytells3704 ай бұрын
@@sziklamester1244 Spore was a big hype that fell short of its expectations. Sim Ant, Sim Life and Sim Earth were always great games for their time. But I agree they all have a strategy aspect to them even Sim City.
@sziklamester12444 ай бұрын
@@tommytells370 The original spore trailer and gameplay showcase with Will Wright was inspiring and more advanced what the game turned to be. EA was involved so not a surprise why the game ended like that and Will moved on. Sad thing because it could have been an amazing game it only turned to be an okay game.

Worms was action, not strategy game! It was just hugely popular. And i HATED it and its countless clones! Also Cannon Fodder, while fun game, was mainly action, not strategy game. UFO Enemy Unknown was MUCH more popular than its under water sequel Terror from the Deep. PS: I would remove Worms and Cannon Fodder and replace them with Populous and Jagged Alliance.

Master of Orion, Master of Orion 2 and Hero's of might and Magic II all have fan remakes which includes high resolution. In each case you must have a licensed install, then install the fan package. Many bug fixes come as well. I've played all three of these last year with fantastic resolution.

original settlers is legendary, best settlers, the (later removed) road mechanics defined settlers this applies to alot of old games, "oh the mechanics are jank" GET OVER IT, there is alot of value to be had in these strategy games, which have more meaningful gameplay than modern slop

@urmo345 Don't start, please. Tactics is also a subgenre of strategy games. Strategy for the game is simply a simplified word. Game genres are not an easy topic because we have too many hybrid games. New types of games are also being created.

Do you remember an old strategy game with a race of dinosaurs? We are looking for a game from our childhood and we can't find it... it was an RTS, late 90's, early 2000's, similar to Primitive Wars. In the game you could play as a nation that consisted of dinosaurs, not only humanoids, there were no humans [no riders]. It's not Jurassic Wars, it's not Primitive Wasr, it's not Dawn of War from 1999, it's not Paraworld, it's not Seven Kingdoms, it's not Warlords Battlecry III... maybe you'll remember something?
