Cause his time has passed, and although he was undoubtedly one of the greats and possibly the best 9 Argentina ever had, he played in a time plagued with many other superstar strikers. But don't be fooled, Batigol got his fair share of hype and spotlight during his days. It's a shame he didn't shine much with the national team except that one Copa America. Imagine had de coincided with Messi, or been around a bit earlier to coincide with a young Maradona?

Messi is more skillful than all of them because he can dribble, has vision, can assist, and superior technical ability. You don't need to be pure strikers to turn around a match, all the greatest players ever like Pele, Maradona, and Messi were not only playmakers but also outstanding goal makers when needed. Real football fans know that Messi is above the league of all the fine players you mentioned. Doing consistently for over 15 years and winning so many awards is inhuman, and quite possibly will never be repeated. Doing that good at international level in a game prone to injuries, loss of form, tremendous pressure needs almost inhuman level of ability. For longevity reasons alone (apart from greatest technical ability), Messi stands at the top in the history of football. Take any yard stick, whether goal scoring, passing and so on, you should see Messi at the top and that he did for a hell lot of years.
