I had a similar experience last year. Though I had of course heard of Fauré, I knew very little about his work - and then after listening to just a bit of it, I devoured everything: nocturnes, barcarolles, duos, trios, quartets, quintets, the opera Pénélope... And I'm still coming back to all of it regularly. Fauré is an amazing composer, his music speaks so directly to my heart.

Thank you for posting this charming piano quintet. I love the Faure piano quartets, but this is new to me -- bit more austere, an example of pure, delicate loveliness. Faure is a composer of incredible refinement and subtlety.

J'aime la discrétion de Fauré... Ce n'est pas terne, pas fade... Il y a une belle vibration mais elle est comme intériorisée... Il faut vraiment aller la chercher, elle ne se donne pas comme ça...Quant à Ravel, j'en reviens de plus en plus... Si j'étais méchant, je parlerais d'"horloge franco-suisse"... Il ne m'émeut pas... Debussy ? Le flamboyant Debussy ? Hors-concours... Hors-catégorie!
