Well, I LOVE his rendition of this song. I thought you were accurate in a lot of what you said…he is obviously a sensitive person - he wouldn’t be able to convey the emotions he does without that rare sensitivity. I think he is shy, but when he lets go in the song, he becomes a lion! In my opinion, this is one of his best performances, because he brings a rare combination of vulnerability and sheer power together in the same piece! The song would not reverberate as much to me if he sang it with a swagger and a self-confident sneer…there are enough singers out there who boast and brag while they’re singing about vulnerability and that’s such a two-faced approach. The best performances in my opinion, are the ones that ring true and support the truth of the song, which I believe Gabriel does EVERY TIME he sings. There’s enough flash, bells and whistles - even from the most popular singers - that just ring false to me. They’re not connecting, they’re ‘just’ selling their wares, with talent for sure, but Gabriel always goes the extra mile when he sings. He seems to have no ego to burn; just the determination to go where the song leads him and do his very best at that. I, for one, would never downplay his work simply because he lack swagger! Bring on authenticity! Bring on transparency! And do it all with power and purity and unmatched style! Bravo, Gabriel!

Tottaly! HE transforms himself during the songs and it becomes just impressive and makes me surprise all the time! The way he ends the song is also surprising cause he puts the sensitive mode again after the performance being so intense and full of runs! You have described GH in a way that I completely agree with. Gabriel seems like such a sweet, sensitive, innocent boy. Years ago I expressed concern that the industry might harm him. Fingers crossed that his path will be filled with joy! And I also agree that this isn’t a favorite. Candidly, I am not a fan of Adele and her songs. They are almost monotone for long stretches and uninteresting.
