I dont think they’re solely using the first 7 games of the season. If you look back at the last 12 months, Saliba and Gabriel have arguably been the best CB partnership in Europe. The stats will prove that to be true. Yes, this season Liverpool have had the best defence so far but that could easily change within the next 5 games. If Liverpool continue to perform at this level defensively throughout the whole season then it would only be right to call Konate and VVD the best CB partnership in Europe.

List the teams Liverpool have played there. All bottom half teams. Its too early to declare one is better than the other. Context matters. Arsenal were hardly split open when you look at the XGA vs Leicester and Southampton. They conceded way less chances in those 2 games combined than Man City did on Saturday vs Fulham yet Arsenal conceded 3 and City 2. Thats football. Sometimes teams take their only chances and other teams like Fulham miss lots.
