Unfortunally she left us today. RIP amazing italian soprano!🙏

Gabriela Tucci was overlooked in her prime. She was overshadowed by Callas. However she is definitely the caliber of a magnificent opera singer. I have never heard anyone perform Aida as she did. Her clarity of vocals and distinctly powerful, yet soft high C will never be overlooked. Not many people in the opera world today can do what she has accomplished.

A glorious voice which must have sounded even more outstanding in the acoustic of the great opera houses. I sit and imagine this in the opera houses Rome , Firenze or Milan where her full and beautifully timbred voice would fill the theatre.

I can't believe she died today! I haven't been aware of her and have only come across her recordings this past week. Then I looked her up today on Wikipedia only to find out that she died today.

@gjxo Any criticism was meant with much love and respect for Ms. Tucci's great talents. I have many favorite arias of hers that I love to listen to...this is just not one I think displays her amzingly flexible voice at her best. My sincere apologies. Harsh words were not intended...only the honest criticism of fellow musicians & stage artists perhaps best not expressed in the general public but in the company of others who always assume great talents behind any critique. My apologies.

I think Aida, Leonora and Desdemona were probably her best roles.

The comparisons to Callas have much more to do with her wide vocal range an abilites than the character of her voice. I think her instrument is much more beautiful than Callas. Few sopranos could sing ...WELL...the range of roles she and Callas did...as beautifully. I still prefer Tucci's Leonora, Tosca, or Violetta to Tucci's Gilda, though. Just personal preference I guess.

Don't forget her incredible Desdemona and Aida! The live Otello with MDM and Gobbi from Tokyo is one my favourite live (captured) performances ever!

Miss Tucci was a supreme Aida (fortunately preserved on a TV broadcast from Tokyo). Her O patria mia is simply one of the greatest of all. I admit Gilda was not her best role but she gives an honest, thoroughly musical, full throated performance from beginning to end and I love it. The soprano/baritone duets are all stunning and she nails a top Eb at the end of Sì, vendetta. Unfortunately she, like so many others, sang heavier roles (including Aïda) too early, and her voice declined in her mid to late 40s as did Tebaldi's and Scotto's. Callas's, Moffo's, Stella's, Millo's and even Ponselle's all declined in their mid to late 30s! Not Freni's, Nilsson's, Rysanek's, Te Kanawa's or Fleming's, however. Their voices sounded great when those ladies were in their mid FIFTIES and some even longer. Devia still sounds great at 70! Many say vocal longevity is not important, or a sign of greatness. Blistered be their tongues for such an utterance. It is of monumental importance. It means the singers learned their lessons well.

Scotto, Te Kanawa, Fleming, Devia all had bad technique. Millo's wasn't great later on in her career. But Tucci, Tebaldi, Callas, Moffo, Stella, Ponselle, Freni and Nilsson had great technique, especially Callas and Ponselle.

XxSaruman82xX you obviously don’t understand “great technique”. Alas.
@xxsaruman82xx874 жыл бұрын
@@jeffreymiller4814 No, it's obvious you don't understand great technique. Scotto was nasal, masky and constricted, Te Kanawa was constricted, Fleming is throaty, masky. Tucci, Tebaldi, Callas, Moffo, Stella, Ponselle, Freni and Nilsson were not masky, nasal, woofy or constricted, they had well balanced voices with chiaroscuro, squillo, developed chest registers and clear vowels.

Brava, anche se un po' pesantina per Gilda. E si sente soprattutto quando la voce deve svettare. La preferisco nel repertorio lirico e lirico spinto, dove ha lasciato delle prove eccellenti.
@victorberistain95365 жыл бұрын
Why compare it with Callas? ... Callas had a metallic tone and an uneven voice, Tucci is compared to a Tebaldi, Tebaldi is an example, in addition to a beautiful color he had a homogeneous and huge voice, Tucci also had a great voice, Tucci without being compared to anyone was a great Soprano, stop comparing, and less with bad examples... 🙄

Much overlooked in her prime, but honestly this artful performance is stiil like abull in a china shop. heavy dramatic (singing style) medium sized voice. missing is ring, depth of tone, sparkle, lightness, lift, spin. Too forced.
@pasqualeperrone15603 жыл бұрын
She’s using the entirety of her voice. Are you sure you’re just not used to hearing singers with improper technique sing this role?
