Zacharevich is the best in 100-110 category of all time, i saw in the background a big poster like instrospective album of petshopboys

It would have been amazing to see Botev in 88, but Bulgaria had to withdraw due to multiple AAF. He claimed to have cleaned 270kg in training that year.

@@PazurjonFalse! Coach Ivan Abadzhiev told him to not lift 270 because it was risky. Botev was ready for c&j 270 during the time. He would’ve beat Z

if you are talking about 88 olympics, the best one was Naim Suleymanoglu. Naim lifted 3x times his body weight + 10 kg. best one is always Naim. lifted 190kg. in 60kg comp.

I love that Zakharevich came to lift big weights and he was not going to take any intermediate steps in the clean and jerk to lock in the medal. All or nothing. What a boss.

Zakharevich - one of the best ever! Similar to Suleymanoglu and Lasha in their categories. I wonder what do you think of Akkaev? He never became so famous, yet did 210 kg snatch in training at 105...

Hi Gabriel! What do you think about the contact that Zakharevich makes in the snatch? From the video it looks like it is on the thighs and not the hips. I thought it was standard to do the contact in the snatch in the hips. Do you think that he can get away with this because he is strong ?
@2244882410 ай бұрын
Contact on the thighs was how it was done back then. The hip contact started to be used in the late nineties I believe. Talcum powder used to be used on the thighs to stop the bar dragging when thigh contact was used. Problem was the talc fell onto the platform making it slippery so it was banned. This might be why the hip contact became popular. It doesn’t seem to have helped anyone lift more judging by this video.

It would have been so much better if Bulgarian Botev was there. Unfortunately Bulgaria pulled out after the 75 kg class.

Something about his elbows looks bent even when he fully extends them. I hope it never effected his judging.

It amazes me how little emotion Zakharevich showed after snatching 210. I was actually surprised when he winced after he got enough of the smelling salts.
@224488242 жыл бұрын
Sportsmen and women over the past 20 years have tried to “put on a show” by wildly celebrating success. Back in the day they had more focus prior to lifting.
