One big recommendation I can give you for your content is to show footage of YOU doing this in your fights to back up your explanation. I think that'd go a long way to engaging the audience and allows you to show it in action as well as demonstrating it clean. You breaking down your own fights etc. would also be highly compelling.

Spam check hooks, teeps, jabs +jab feints (straights in general), clinch+knee once they are in infight. Try using a long guard. Might sound fancy, but just holding your opponents forehead with your extented lead hand will mostly do the job (not only keeping him at distance but you are taking his vision with it too). If they come rushing in in a straight line while ducking their head in a double guard I meet them with a hard right uppercut while taking a step back with the rear foot. I for my part love infighting even though I am quite tall. Maybe you should be getting good at infighting so you won't have a problem once it gets into that range.

Don't have the habbit of leaving comments, but I'm working on it. You channel has been really influential. I do karate and your tips have really improved it in making it more practical and less "sport karate". This vídeo is an example of that. Thank you.

Your channel is fantastic. The Alex Perreira video was recommended to me, but I had ignore it. Luke Thomas then referenced it on his show and it compelled me to watch. I'm now very engaged with your content.

Ah this is just great. I was talking about this in one of my latest training sessions how I need to have more movement and pivots when I do free mitts with my teammates. Often we just stand infront of the mittholder, perform our combo or singles and THEN move rather than have it included in the actual combo.

Found your content super useful. For today’s video on red flag 🚩 martial art gyms, I have experienced situations where owners/coach being very slack off and basically lack of discipline (ie open the gym whenever the want to), and I was thinking hmm… who actually wants to learn from people like that? As a martial artist? Role model for kids? Also when I was training chinese martial arts, cross training was commonly viewed as a sin. Imagine your biology teach says that you can take biology and math class together, always found cult like behaviour and egocentric thinking amusing. Have a lovely weekend

Nice! Good explanation of all pros. Works well in boxing, though not as much in kickboxing etc. One big Con: The body moves though the front leg not really at all…. Great moment to kick their front leg when your opponent is pivoting. Pivoting has risks and should not be overused with opponents that have good inside low kick technique and timing. Keep making awesome videos! You are entertaining and educating!!! 🤜🤛

I think it’s a little shortsighted to say that the pivot to cut an angle doesn’t work very much in kickboxing when we have a multiple-time kickboxing champion describing when he likes to pivot. It was also used constantly by MMA fighter and top-tier striker Jose Aldo throughout his career. Aldo was a damn good low-kicker himself, and we have evidence of him using pivots in pretty much every fight. Plus, pivoting the way Gabriel shows presents the shin to an inside low-kick anyway - it’d be an outside low-kick that such an angle is risking, but then you should try to avoid the timing of that anyway. And you can just as easily shift both legs back and pivot to the other direction for a grounded check, which Aldo also did to great effect (there’s a whole breakdown on another channel when talking about Aldo’s calf kick defence). But hey, it still is a degree less effective with that threat in play. Just maybe not as much as you seem to be suggesting here.

I feel that distance matters a lot. Also what you're planning to do. If you're just maintaining your distance and jabbing you don't really need to step. That's a good way to disrupt rhythm. You can mix in foot feints before stepping and cutting when you want to go on the offense. It works very well if the guy can't figure out your timing.

Good stuff. One fight I think would be good to take note of is Mayweather vs Gatti. Mayweather used some pivots the other way, to his right (counterclockwise) quite effectively in that fight.
