It's easier to make punching mistakes while throwing combos. On single shots you can put all your focus into one perfect punch. But as the combo lengthens it's much harder to be error free.
Today I share with you 6 common mistakes I'd love for everyone on my channel to avoid. Watch closely and stick around to the end where we practice combos together.
If you enjoy the video please like, share and/or subscribe 🙏 🙏 🙏

@@soribasylla4104 PaRT a. Hi Sorbia. Looking to post clip(s). My latest comment explains dynamic.... which was also illustrated during a championship boxing match I watched last night (replay). Opponent boxer was ahead over many rounds... got sloppy with his Philly Shell... going for a body jab (GV did video?), got plowed by a simple R Cross. Tried to continue... but the mind was shocked, and he got pummeled several more times.... then collapsing. There is another karate moral... which GV's audience won't buy... but there it is right smack in front of you in a match where the former champion goes down hard in a split second. CHEERS, as always.😁

I notice a lot of people (mostly Muay Thai I think) initiate their lead hook by bringing their front hand down low first and looping it back up again after torqueing their torso into the shot. And they seem to be harrrd shots that get knockouts. Maybe you can touch on that in a future video as to why they do this. My guess is there's more power (but less defense) and some deception as to what the punch will be since you can change that punch to any angle after that starting position.

It's interesting to compare studies on shouting and power generation. Tennis the shouting was very controversial because it didn't sound appealing to traditional audiences. But studies on the subject revealed that shouting increased power generation without noticable difference in effort of the player. Similarly when I watch Canelo train, he is letting those noises go while he strikes. It's forcing air and if the studies on tennis translate 100% to striking should technically be generating more power as a result

Solid video. Peter Yan in MMA and usyk in boxing show these fundamentals in spades. It should be noted that looser form for more power wins plenty of fights tho. I suppose the true great know when to break the rules.

Really enjoyed this one Gabriel. Even the best fighters in the gym regularly make mistakes on one or more of these. 🤷‍♂️ Incidentally...many years of hikite took a long time to undo once I started training Muay Thai sir...someone else mentioned this in another of your videos...extremely true though...I’m definitely an ex-karateka only nowadays ✌️😬 PS. The hair! Best it’s ever looked brother...truly (have u dyed that front bit btw?) 🤔😌 PPS. I seriously cannot wait for ‘someone’ (🤦‍♂️) here to give a bizarre lecture on how great hikite is for defending one’s face/head...we just ‘all don’t understand the full intricacies and genius of the hikite’. CHEERS! 😜🙃🙄

I injured my wrist twice because my elbows were too low. Turns out it’s really hard for me to raise my elbow when my palm is facing me. Palm down works a lot better for me, my shoulder feels a lot more comfortable. Take care of your joints fellas.
@josh1212121
@josh1212121 2 жыл бұрын
I have a question about bringing the shoulders up when throwing punches. I've been taught that you shouldn't shrug your shoulders up when punching cause you lose power when you do. Like when you throw hooks its better to keep the shoulder relaxed and down cause you land with more power, if you lift your shoulder up and tuck it next to your jaw there's less power in your shots. And If you want to protect your jaw from being hit, you're supposed to tuck your chin down and not lift your shoulder up. Just how I've been trained. I also saw JT from Precision Striking teach it this way.
