Haggerty is really good at raising his knee much higher than the average Muay Thai fighter. That’s why his teeps are so much better than everyone else.

Funny how I slammed my toes against my trainingpartner’s knee while throwing a frontkick just last week and Gabriel comes with this video today as I’m recovering from my injury😂 Amazing timing.

Hey, Gabriel, another great video. It would be awesome to hear what you have to say about dealing with physical pain in combat sports. A lot of dojos have a no pain no gain mindset. However, watching fights, I always wonder about the level of pain each fighter brings to the cage. The top 1 reason I don't fight in amateur circuits is pain, followed closely by mental stress.

Been super cautious of this ever since I got a nasty toe injury. I always feel like my front kicks are catching elbows

Been doing Muay Thai for over a month now, and I thought for sure I broke the middle toe of my left foot after my teep caught someone's elbow. It WILL put you out of commission for a while.

Jamming the toes does not happen often on a front kick for me, but more on low kicks to the legs... Especially while trying to hit, and falling short ..

Where was this video a month ago when I used a stop kick to block my opponent's kick? I'm still recovering from a fractured 5th metatarsal! But thank you for this specific video... a lot of good tips to work on.

Learn to control and mesure the distance, then it shouldnt be a problem til hit with the shin
@whoknows8223 Жыл бұрын
Throw light, probing ones first. If you land them start committing to them Edit: you can also throw double lowkicks. First one light second hard (of opponent checks you kick him 2nd one when his checking leg comes back down on the ground unabdingbar to check immediately again). Cheers

Great video! Could you address (when neither fighter is wearing shin guards) how to fire low round kicks to the thigh and not hurt your foot/ankle/leg when they check your kick? (Of course you can try to time your kick; but sometimes I hesitate to throw a low kick knowing they could check it with their shin or even their knee.)
@gutts1405 Жыл бұрын
I second this. I only spar without shin guards which some may think is stupid, but I don't want to get into the habit of throwing them out as candidly as I do with shin guards on and then hurting myself
@hasanagic96 Жыл бұрын
I dealt with this by throwing my leg without any weight or tension in it. Kinda half speed, if i see that he lifted, i dont tense and just let it land on the opponent's shin lightly. If at the half distance between the ground n his leg i see that he is not gonna check, then i tense fully and let the leg kick reap. U sacrifice some power for safety
