Hung Gar is an appropriate style for this movie. It is a style meant to train revolutionaries to fight against the Imperial forces, and there are hand signs that are integrated into the techniques so that practitioners of the style can recognize each other while in hiding. So when Tang Long displayed the Hung Gar hand signs, its essentially him revealing his identity and recognizing who he really is.
