He had swine flu never recovered fully and he also has a condition called laryngeal dystonia its a neurological condition that means his brain doesn't communicate with his vocal cords properly. that's why he strains a lot.

TheBeautybre2 the "reason" he got that was because/caused by when he got Swine flu..if you go back & watch the video of when he announced that he was sick you can hear it in his voice :( it still kills me to watch/think back to that video but his voice does seem to be getting stronger every day!

Omg...I love Kevin's and Brian's voices at 3:25 to 3:33 the harmony is so perfect. This song is really touching and to see them performing it so brilliantly makes me cry. Nick has such a wonderful way to sing that is absolutely super unique.Those guys are unbeatable.
