I was self-taught. I’ve been drawing since I was 5 years of age, it took a lot of practice to get to where I am now, but I guess I can share a few tips. *1. Color palettes* If you ever have trouble, choose colors for an OC, searching up color palettes can really help you out, it has been a lifesaver for me in most situations. *2. Be unique* If you want to make a Sonic OC- it’s okay to choose a basic animal such as a Wolf, Cat, Bunny, or Hedgehog… but sometimes It can lack originality, uniqueness is key to making a good OC. *3. Inspiration* Getting inspiration can really help you out, but make sure you don’t copy completely (most of the time it appears lazy), looking at other people’s artwork can inspire you, and give you just the jumpstart you need. *4. Research* Looking at pose references and anatomy can help, as well as Sonic anatomy and angle references. When making a Sonic OC, after choosing the animal/species you want, researching what they look like in real-life can give you an idea of some cool features you can give them, along with some interesting facts for their bio. *5. Do overdo it* When making an OC, try not to overpower them or overaccessorize, it can make the OC look messy or confusing. Same with backstories, it’s okay to add elements and make it interesting, just- don’t traumatize them too much. This is super long I know- I hope this helped, I’m not the best at explaining things lol😅
