Yes, you can call them progressive rock, They kinda are in a way. They never stay the same, they change for every song they make, they have at least three singer and all of them are excellent musicians and performers..To me they are greatest rock band around!

Hi Dave - nice reaction! Interesting that you called out the voices and the piano - its those elements which elevate Gacharic Spin for me. In terms of the mix its usually deliberate so that there's more of a balance between bass, guitar and piano as to what is taking the lead, though there are some songs that are more guitar dominant. FYI - the "ch" in the Band name is soft as in chair or church, rather than school, or you can just refer to them as GS! :) Yes, they're Japanese, are currently in their 15th year (so much older than Hanabie, and pre-date Band-Maid by a way also), and stylistically they go all over the place. I hope that on a re-watch you also discovered that there are English subs available. Recommendations for other songs to check out would be; Mindset (their most popular song) I wish I (for something a little more surprising) Let it Beat (latest EP) Cheers!

Love your analysis! As a guitarist it sometimes drives me crazy that they bury the guitars in the mix, but it is what it is. Not complaining about the rhythm guitars here, that's fitting the song, which focuses on the keys and vocals with the bass driving the song. But the guitar solo, I don't know why. Shrugs GS always emphasizes the melodies and one of their staples is the dominance of the bass in sound and also the composition. As to a comparison to Band-Maid, I'd say BM has more of a formula (rock) and deviates from that once in a while. With GS otoh you never know. You always know, that it's Gacharic Spin, but you never know which style they play. Check out more from them and you'll see. Cheers :) btw, I suggest Mindset next (studio version) and then try a live one, cause they are a force on stage ....

Really good reaction, especially your insights to the "jazz" and "prog" elements. GS has never been a guitar dominated band unless the song calls for it. This is unfortunate is some ways because many of us realize that Tomo-zo is very underrated since she is an amazingly gifted guitarist who always plays for the song. So yes, it would be nice if she was a bit higher in some of the mixes. One of the reasons I am a fan of this band is that they are not following a trend but creating their own sound. Sometimes it takes more than one listen of a song to fully appreciate the brilliance of this band.

Great reaction.☝ I've never found it a good idea to compare bands directly, and this is a good example of why. I love Band-Maid and Gacharic Spin, but they are such different bands that I find it very difficult to compare them. Ok, both bands have great musicians and songs, but Band-Maid is mainly a pop/punk rock band that spices up their compositions with a little bit of everything... hard rock, metal, funk, progressive, etc., but always driven for the strong sound of its two guitarists, on the other hand, Gachapin is a totally eclectic band... so much so that it has been categorized as power pop, electro pop, alternative rock, prog rock, etc, etc... but usually using Oreo's keyboards as a pivot for Koga's bass and Tomozo's guitar. Additionally, when performing live, Hana and Koga have always placed great importance on the visual (choreographies and fun interactions), while Kanami focuses more on musical performance. Doll$Boxx... the alter ego of Gacharic Spin (which I assume you've seen: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4Cvi2WdgayqgpYsi=AomGghdPH6HdWql1), has more in common with Band-Maid, but they add more prog and a bit of metal core to their mix, so they still seem too different to me. P.S. For Doll$Boxx fans, they will be back on tour in December 2024, but I don't know if they will release new music, does anyone know?

Saya mulai mendengarkan Scandal, BabyMetal, Band Maid saat mulai mengenal Japanese Female Band, dan saya tidak bisa menikmati mereka lagi setelah saya mengenal Gacharic Spin 😅 Bahkan Gacharic Spin sudah menjadi Menu Utama dan Wajib untuk kebutuhan mendengarkan musik bagi saya, genre yang dahulu saya dengar sudah tidak senikmat musikalitas GS 😂 Selera Saya😊 ❤❤❤❤❤❤GS
