I only discovered REX files, and ReCycle by extension, about two years ago via a Logic course where the instructor first created a REX file via ReCycle, then imported it into the EXS24 instrument. Wow, pretty amazing. I ended up buying Reason. Then shortly thereafter, I heard and saw Dr. Octo Rex, which was also amazing. Still, I didn’t have Reason; again, Logic. So I’m pretty stoked that Gadget now has Stockholm; bought the gadget a few days ago. Bummer that I have to create new REX files from my computer, but it’s a laptop so can take it with me. Still, I hope that one day REX files can be created and exported on our iPads. I can’t believe the technology is now at least 20 years old and still just about untouchable. Great demo, and got your folder so thanks for that...and for what you do!

You are very kind dude. Thank you so much for the loops and the review.

Hi Jason - Thanks for all the excellent REX files. I bought Stockholm because of your offer. Here is my wish for loops. More brass, sectional brass and mixed horn riffs. (The ones you had listed as brass were actually sax, still cool though.) And I would love to use more traditional vocal loops, like monk chants, opera, traditional folk vocals from around the world like Tuvan throat singers or the ubiquitous Baka Yelli. You get the idea. I haven't listened to everything you put up (as easy previewing isn't possible you know) so you may have some of this already. (I just signed up and I think I'm your first patron on Patreon!)

Thank you! Saxophones are made of brass but they are in the woodwinds family I know what you want now. That was kind of a quick knee jerk uppload as I had little time to upload. I'm sending more stuff up very soon! Will have brass horns for you. Will keep you posted.

Thanks for the video - very informative. Would love to see some more musical sounds in there: abstract vocals (male and female - oohs, aahs, non-worded phrases). Ethnic flutes, guitar lines, anything that could be chopped up and re-arranged in a musical way would be great.

I just bought Stockholm yesterday and I’m loving it. This pertains to couple of the features in Stockholm that you did not mention, I was just curious about. On the Rex screen there’s an option on there it says Follow Loop Playback and on the Performance screen in the Pad section there’s option Note Dest Loop, What do they do.

Thanks for doing this Jason! I have Gadget, but none of the in-app gadgets - I want to get some more Gadgets before the sale ends - thinking of Abu Dhabi, Bilbao, Amsterdam and Stockholm... I may be able to purchase 1 or 2 but that's likely all at this time. Where would you recommend I put my money?
@djpuzzleofficial6 жыл бұрын
Hi joe, sorry I didn't reply sooner. I own Abu Dhabi and Stockholm. Both are very similar. Thing is with Stockholm you have more sound design features because it has a synth section BUT you're limited to using Recycle files only. Do you have access to Reason on a desktop or notebook?
@JoeCarterDesigns6 жыл бұрын
Dj Puzzle iPadLoops i do not have Reason... but i bought Stockholm on the strength of your and Doug’s recommendations (hoping i could get good .rex files to work with... your repo is a great start to this... so, since i already did that, which would you recommend? Bilbao, Abu Dhabi, or Vancouver? Or other..? I have Beatmaker 3 and have been considering adding to my in app sounds collection there too... ?

Yes for sure! BUT I should warn you instruments with long sustaining notes like that don't work as well as rx2 files. It works better with shorter more staccato sounds. Sounds with more transients and distinct notes. I will let you know when it's ready!!

thnx for the rx drop JD... what is "note dest loop' in the perf section?
@djpuzzleofficial6 жыл бұрын
That toggles the 8 different rx2 files you have loaded in a bank. Above that you'll see the bank. So when you select 2 it'll make rx2 slot 2 active on the keyboard when in slice mode. Seems it does nothing when in loop mode.

Can you load Octo rex Reason patches into Stockholm, so that all 8 rex files can load at once in gadget.?
@djpuzzleofficial6 жыл бұрын
Good question! I will try it later this evening and will report back.
@NiharSavala6 жыл бұрын
SO, i tried it bro, the Octo rex in Reason saves files as .drex, but it doesnt save the indv rex files within it. It only saves the panel parameters & references to the rex files. Also I tried exporting the stockholm patch to try it in octo rex, but I dont know where it gets saved. Btw I tried this on Reason 5 :- ).

Great video! It inspired me to dig up all of my old Rex files. I also decided to test a Proof of Concept in terms of creating Rex files on the go. Since Recycle is not available for IOS (yet?), I decided to try the next best thing: Recycle running on a pocket Windows computer, it works!
