Thanks from the UK. You're an inspiration. I'm in the middle of building my own bird-house gadget cache and the ideas in your videos have been fundamental in its conception.

A way to make this easier to find, bring along a small container of coffee grounds. Between each scent, smell the coffee. It'll clear up your sense of smell and keep the scents from blending with each other.

I'm glad I had my friend and my wife with me. I wasn't sure of the difference between Wintergreen, Peppermint, and Clove. We finally got it all sorted out and found the final container the first time.

It gets cold here in WV, many times, snow on the ground for weeks at a time. Winter was not problem. Scenes lasted at least a year.

One of my botany labs involved sniffing various scents and identifying them. I totally sucked at it. So when you say identifying known scents is difficult, I believe you. Great multi.

We bought ours at a local old fashion pharmacy. I would suggest a place that sells candy making supplies or I'm sure you could buy them on the internet.

love your videos! and your caches! I want to start doing that in Mexico but on a budget hahaha... I will try to do something similar to this one!

Great, good luck, if you have any questions or you need more pics, just let me know. Tell me when you get it out so I can read some of the logs.
@Hakliva11 жыл бұрын
Wow! That one is really easy to build!!! I wonder how the scents would hold up in the winter freeze...

If you want to improve the accuracy of the scent put some coffee beans in there so people can smell them after each and it might help them get the right coordinates cause the coffee beans clear out the nose

Hi. I'm from Poland. I had an similar idea for a sniffing cache, but the reviewer disagreed. She told the caches cannot contain scented items to not attract animals. The rulles actually say so but nice to see it's fun :)

That can be a difficult cache, especially if you make the mistake of touching one of the smells on your nose. I don't know if I could solve this one by myself. I would need my wife along with me on this one. : )

thank you, lots of votes from my youtube friends. Thanks to you all.

Tim, you are awesome at these! Have you doing any recently? Have you worked on Escape Rooms before?
@gadgetcaches11 жыл бұрын
Yes, please do. That is the reason I do this, so others will copy. Good luck, let me know how it goes.

I live in Alaska and it gets 50 below zero and yes we cache still in the cold weather. I was wondering, does the fragrance handle the cold temps relatively well?
@gadgetcaches11 жыл бұрын
Oh course it's not that cold here, but, we get weeks and weeks of snow cover, and over last winter I didn't have any problems. I'm bet it froze, but when temps when up, I didn't have any problems.

What is a Geo footprint
@gadgetcaches10 жыл бұрын
Geo footprint - a trail or area where cachers have walked and worn out a spot.

Really bad thing is when you touch the scenes to your nose. Then for next hour that is all you smell.

Thank you!!

how do you make them smell?
@gadgetcaches10 жыл бұрын
Cache page says they have to "sniff out" the clues.

"Food items or scented items are inappropriate and disallowed. Animals have a keen sense of smell and have been known to destroy containers to get to these items. Items that may melt in the heat, such as crayons or lip balm, or expand in the cold, such as liquids, should also be excluded from caches." -Geocaching.com guidelines.
