Ring Intercom Kit Installation and Review - Anyone Can Install it!

I added one to our 40 year old intercom system and works great. 20 minutes install and worked great on release day. Being disabled this was a no brainer that I'd been looking for a solution to for a long time. Hate the long press and then press again needed to open the door in the app though. They need to simplify this to just the long press.

Can't wait to see it action, managing vacancy rentals like b&bs and holiday apartments make this seems like a smart and pragtical way to do distance and emergency check-ins when no one is available for welcoming customers, I only hope that the battery lasts at least a week between every full recharge

I have this, absolutely brilliant. Only thing I wish it did was disable the buzzer and use the ring chimes as a new speaker!

Couldn’t you just set your intercom on privacy and link up the ring chime

@@gofishcrazy1642 so I just removed the positive wire from the buzzer inside and taped it up. The ring doorbell thingy still works perfectly!

I do have a ring doorbell. I do not have an intercom. If I buy a ring intercom and an electric lock to my gate, do I still need a normal intercom or with the Ring intercom I con open the gate?

I just bought a 2 gen Echo Show 8 on Amazon and i'd really like to use it to watch who's on my doorbell. I read this can't be used to watch a live streaming of the people on the door but i also saw the Blink outdoor camera with the sync2 module can do the trick. I was thinking to buy both these devices to open the door and watch who's on the other side of my videophone through my Echo Show

Great review , I use it on my gates but only really annoying feature is when you ask Alexa to open the gates (or door) it asks you for a 4 digit code every time .

There is a way around this, create a routine that when you say Alexa open X it runs Alexa, open X with code 1234. Replace X and 1234 with your own details. This works great for me.

Hi, very informative video, thank you. Is the intercom fully integrated in Alexa's ecosistem? For example, can I make the lights (compatible with Alexa) turn on and off (and vice versa depending on the previous state) whenever someone rings the doorbell? Thank you!

Nice review. Just subscribed. When the Ring is installed, does your old 'dumb' intercom still work like normal? For example does it still ring, when someone presses the buzzer outside? An you still communicate through the old intercom and can you still let people in using the old intercom?

Opening is not working with my mey SKS BS2012 ... Audio OK but Opening door makes only a noise on the Speaker :( Manual also says there are 2 cables for +a and -b but... my SKS has +a -b +a -b ... so twice.

@@GadgetsBoy No, my existing intercom system has its door bell included. I could set the volume of it in the housing but I always had to open the housing. I thought maybe if I connect the Ring Intercom Kit it would be possible to edit the Settings of the existing intercom in the ring app. But the audio settings shown in the video are only for the app use, right?

Ahh gotcha yeh only for the intercom. All it does it essentially intercept your current system for the opening door and answering.

Does it work with any make intercom? I searched my product on the compatibility site and says it isn’t compatible. I did a check in a few other models and says same thing? My current intercoms is GDX 1804. Anyone know if this will work?

I believe it’s initially available in the UK and Europe as much more people live in apartment blocks with a shared entrance than in the US - it will be rolling out to the US though but I haven’t seen a time scale for it yet!

How is it the worst install? Are you ok? … granted it’s not straight I could tidy the cable but the point of the video is to show you how easy it is to install without also giving away my location for my safety. It’s an amazing product, I have two of them at my studio and one at my apartment. It’s not compatible with video intercom systems but their website tells you what’s compatible so so your checks
