I took delivery of these boots today. The craftsmanship is top notch. Very glad I spent the extra dough to get some boots with ankle pivot. Just went for a spin off road on my Transalp. Tripped over at one point from a stand still and the bike landed on my ankle. 200kg and I felt nothing. Paid for themselves there and then!

I bought these today after a five week search for boots and watching hundreds of these reviews. Only 45 minutes in them thus far so can’t say much. But I can say that they fit like a glove, ankle and calf, and are hot 🥵 on the leg as a result. They will be great cooler weather boots but it’s the middle of summer here in Australia, heat aplenty boys and girls. Super happy with them however. UPDATE: it’s over a year since I have had them. Closer to two than one. I did wear other boots for short rides during the summer but not because they were hot when riding, short rides typically meant going to the supermarket or other similar tasks. Clomping around in them off bike in the summer was not fun. On the bike however it really wasn’t a problem and I still prefer them over anything else, even during the summer. The biggest surprise has been their warmth. I haven’t tested them in truly cold weather, I’m not riding in that. But down to freezing point, 0 Celsius, they are great. Their robustness engenders confidence and on several occasions random items have smashed into them, zero consequences for me. Of course a truly significant impact, the bike landing on them during a significant and very undesirable event, is going to hurt. Otherwise they for me represent the best compromise between safety and comfort I can imagine.

@DavidKD20507 күн бұрын
@ I can’t remember, Dakar something, I think. The boots I chose are fabulous. The decision was good. Two days ago I wore them looking for a missing goat. The grass is very long and brown, the area is full of eastern brown snakes, deadly. I would not have walked through the area without them or something equally tough. About 3km, 2 miles, not a problem. The day before I had strained a calf muscle, it was painful, still is. I could still walk well in the boots due to the support.

Do they have traction when you’re off the bike? @rmatvmc2 жыл бұрын
That's tough because they are pretty different in how they fit and feel. The 5.5 is a stiffer boot with more hard plastic all over and has great ankle support. The Fastback is a more "traditional" boot with the stitched on sole that is very durable, but doesn't have as much feel on the pegs. The Fastback is also very comfortable, has better buckles, and in terms of durability, Gaerne is hard to beat compared to any boot. If I was just riding off-road and motocross, I would get the 5.5. But if I was also doing some ADV riding, I would probably get the Fastback. - Chase

Will be looking at this boot to use as a 80/20 dual sport boot. The SG12 is a bit overkill, but good to have when technical riding enters the picture (very often here in Idaho). Will be contrasting with the SG22, Sidi X-Power, Tech 7 and Leatt 5.5.
