I think you're right. But it's a bad idea to let cats "groom" us (esp those with long hair) bc it gets caught up on their papillae and they can't spit it out on their own. They can get a bezoar/ blockage which may necessitate surgery 😿💸 It's the same reason why yarn & string are horrible toys for cats.
