Protip to anyone learning hh: forget the buffs and use the goddamn thing as a weird hammer. Fight with disregard to specific notes, and when you accidentally create a song, play it. You'll probably memorize your songs like that eventuallly, but more importantly you won't have the anxiety of "playing the right notes" over your head.
@michaelleon72578 жыл бұрын
This is actually how I learned back in 4u. I didn't even realize you could play songs until I looked in the hunter notes, and even then I didn't really play the songs. But once I learned, I loved it. That Seregios horn was 👌

The Hunting Horn is a weapon I love for a number of reasons. However, due to my attrocious memory, I just can't both keep the notes in mind and actually fight at the same time. Maybe if there was just one note set for all horns, I'd manage, but the fact that the notes can change with each different Horn just goes too far for me to appreciate this. I just have to settle for a Hammer. Fortunately, a regular play buddy of mine has this as his favored weapon, even for solo. So, y'know, there are worse fates :D
@SolarFlairIsBestPony8 жыл бұрын
The horn is still viable for you- you just have to focus on one note set, preferably a simple one. Honestly, the default note set of red, white, and blue is pretty darn effective and it's really simple to get the basics of it down. WW, WRR, and WBB for personal speed buff / no bounce, attack up, and defense up. A lot of the other horns are sort of niche anyway, giving you things like heat/cold resistance, sonic bomb effect, wind negation... it's all well and good, but you're right, it takes a memory. Picking one or two favorite note sets will serve you just fine if you prepare like any other hunter with cold drinks or whatever the situation calls for.
@rubberduckykingjr338 жыл бұрын
I usually go for the more complex note sets, because I can land more hits on the monster, and get a better buff on myself

Oh man. After I played through MH4U I bought 3U and mained Hunting Horn. I didn't enjoy the solo play of it, but I saw it's potential as "the team weapon" (not the "support" weapon), and I got pretty damn good at it. Granted my kill times weren't great but in all speedruns for weapons HH tends to have the worst. That Aerial style with the double note... oh man I'm drooling. I would like to mention another useful Hunting Art in addition to the ones shown in the video. It's called Castle Walls, and it's perfect for HH. When using the art it greatly increases your defense and gives you knockback resistance, making you less likely to be knocked out of attacks and songs played. While the downside of the art is that you can't dash, most of the time it won't matter. HH users tend to always have the weapon drawn anyways, and the Movement Speed up song you first play makes up for the slow speed of the hunter.

The updates make the game seem flashy as many have said but the game runs faster making the monsters more challenging. one tip about bushido horn after an evade: only the first of 3 attacks have to do a note, you can chose to let the combo finish without pressing a button to prepare your song as you wish. and also: minor healing being encore with hitself with double notes become minor healing + healing, so it heals a lot. To do so, spam the healing song as many as you can while making only double notes. good hunt. Sorry for my english "je suis monté"

I'm happy, I love the HH, it's addicting enough I had to make another character who specifically Hammered instead of HH'd. Honestly the biggest difficulty of MHGen sounds like choosing which weapon to hunt with in any given fight, as it is I'll have several types from HH to Lance back to SwAxe and HBG :) I'm pro Aerial styles so far :)
@mars35807 жыл бұрын
Slizarus I know this is an old comment, but truthfully that is one of the biggest difficulties. In any MH game. Although I'm sure someone will say "Git Gud" lots of different weapons work better for different monsters it seems. While I'm sure a pro can destroy any monster with one specific weapon, I switch constantly. Thinking about making HH my main though now... We'll seeZ
@Slizarus7 жыл бұрын
FinnTheLycan I ended up choosing Aerial Gunlance, Adept Bow, and Boomerang assist prowler. HH is wonderful but the bow took me by surprise, it's a lot of fun in Gen. Good Luck in Gen :)

Slizarus Thanks! I took quite a long break (Obviously not just now since that comment was a little under an hour ago) from MHGen, and I am so glad I'm back into it. I like the Bow a lot, it's fun, but I am definitely the type of player who likes to get up close and personal. It's easier for me to see how monsters will react that way, and see how they move. Good luck upon you as well! I hope you're having fun with it (If you haven't already finished)

FinnTheLycan I'm on break, I kinda went crazy with it and ended up around hr 128 while my friends and GF were still trying to uncap their HR lol but it's never far from my mind. When Gen Ultimate comes to the west I'm going to play Beast Prowlers, up close and personal is fun too :) Aerial Gunlance is all about slamming a cannon onto the top of their head and discharging great blasts.. not always team friendly but so much fun. I made like 4 end game GLs lol

Now that the demo is finally out it is really nice to see how good the double notes are. Even with just weak healing songs it gives a pretty nice boost and encoring it, if possible, even better healing support. In MHGen the Hunting Horn will definitly be main weapon again
@Ranzord958 жыл бұрын
I used to main this thing back in MH3U. And I had to solo the whole game because it was the 3DS version, so hey. I tought it would be a beast in MH4U, since the songs, stun and exhaust effects are an advantage for every teammate, plus other players can distract the monster so you can play songs. But for some reason, I have a hard time using it now. Maybe because MH4U is harder and monsters are more aggresive. I guess the biggest problem was playing encore songs unless the monster can't attack, which is fixed with the double notes now.
@clowdde8 жыл бұрын

I used it for a month straight in mh4u. I could never kill great jaggi with the thing, I wouldn't even get close, every time I tried to play a song, he would just hit me out of it. I can't really seem to do good at any weapons in the game though. Dual blades? Dead. Hammer? Dead. Great sword? Meh. SS? Nope. IG? Dead. Lance/gunlance? Dead. Any ranged weapons? Extremely dead. CB? Dead. Switch axe? I think anyone that can press the X button and R button can play that thing. Long sword? Little bit more dead then when I use SS.

@mahius198 жыл бұрын
Great video. For me, HH is on the fence as to whether I use it or not in MHX. Since the songs are all in Japanese, the task of remembering songs becomes a bit harder, but at least I've memorised the Kanji for 'attack up' so far. I might pick it up later, but for now I'm focusing on Lance, Longsword and Insect Glaive, considering they were weapons I didn't use much in previous games. Having hunted a Bulldrome with Bushido LS yesterday, I love how agressive I can get with the evades (evade straight into an enemy), it's almost like evasion +3. So I feel like Bushido HH would be right up my alley, especially as I like to hit monsters with the songs being played (I usually get punished for it though). Those evades would come in very handy.

Actually, one of the things I've noticed with horn in MH4U iirc (don't know if it's the same with X) but depending on how you entered the recitals, the second recital animations are also sometimes different, meaning that right second recital can be viable depending on the attack

the only weapon i use is hunting horn and some of the reactions you get online are pretty funny. -People are amazed to see'em because users are so rare -people love to play with good users and they'll let you know -"I want to learn HH but can't get the hang of it" hear from other hunters a lot And after hunts get reactions like -"Horn is amazing!" Hunting horn is crazy fun when you get the hang of it. A lot of people find it really awkward but I really agree with Gaijin Hunter when he says the HH is "Deceptively simple". It's actually pretty easy lol think people just get intimidated by the song system and being "slow" If you give it a chance it's really fun ^^

Well the striker style is EXACTLY the moveset in MHFU. If you think the combo is slow and not really good, that's what HH users feel when they go back to the older entries (I tried, and it didn't feel easy for me to HH a Teostra in MHFU)

@aruzail8 жыл бұрын
+Pablo Acosta I always thought it was a good skill because of the motion value. Idk why gaijin said its weak
@william_sun8 жыл бұрын
The last hit is actually fixed damage, not a motion value, so it ignores your weapon's attack and the monster's body part weakness multiplier. Sonic Smash will "underperform" against enemies that have weak points with weakness multipliers greater than 50 (average final-form HH raw attack is around 200) and "overperform" against enemies without weak points. It's basically a bomb that takes uncomfortably long to set up. The perception that the attack is weak is probably because it's more or less impossible to cause a monster to flinch with the attack because the sound wave doesn't appear to actually hit a particular part of the monster (or if it does, it's not reliably the closest part of the monster).
@mosswine54178 жыл бұрын

So, are you unable to find the motion values on the sonic blast attack?

Hey guys I was wondering what was the fastest way to KO a monster with this weapon. I have found that doing A then X and alternate works well, but I was wondering if it was better to do forward X+A and A instead? I know it knocks teammates around but I was just wondering which one would KO faster?(Yes I know HH is a support but I'm just wondering on this specific point)

It is a misconception that hunting horn is a support weapon, but in reality, it can do a ton of damage. This is my way of knocking out the monster as fast as possible: Smack the monster around a few dozen times. If you want to honestly know how to knock out the monster quickly, use the K.O king skill. That's my best advice, even though I main hunting horn. I just smack the monster until gets knocked out.

Can someone tell me about some good horns? I would prefer some that include attack up and defense up. Online resources for weapon trees aren't up yet -.-

I have one question, I've noticed during encores that my hunter occasionally skips the windup on on rightward encore, going straight into a fast slam, but I can't get this to trigger consistently. Any tips on triggering the instant fast slam on a rightward encore?
@moonman3758 жыл бұрын
on the encore animation (this refers to mh4), sometimes when i do a left encore it does the animation that would do if i had pressed right (but still goes left). What i mean, is that sometimes the animation is longer and i don't know why.
@Kumoiwa8 жыл бұрын
It depends on how many notes the song has iirc

The self-improvement song has its own unique encore animations that are shorter than the usual ones.

YES!! Horn Time. Kinda disappointed with the Hunter Arts though. How long do the effect take place? For the Hunter Arts, I mean.
@r.k81158 жыл бұрын
+BlackBlitz7 i'm guessing they last the same as if you used them normally without the arts, since he didnt say anything about it. I'm not sure though, since i didnt try the weapon yet, mainly using the IG for now :3
@KazumiKiguma8 жыл бұрын
+Velskud K. He's asking how long the Hunter Art effect lasts, not how long the songs last while using them. As in, the buff that makes all your songs double notes.
