Face Open has released all restrictions on Gaiking's strengths. I can't believe Lulu made Daiya promise not to use it.

She did that because he wasn't yet ready. In LOD, Face Open takes a heavy toll on the pilot and if they're not prepared for it, it could kill them. Clearly he grew as a person and a pilot and became able to sustain the draw on his essence.

Its a bit of a conundrum. The really good shows like this version of Gaiking are very entertaining to watch, but they end so quickly that they leave you wanting more. Then you remember shows like DBZ or Bleach that were good when they started and then just went out of control, quality-wise, the longer they ran, and you're thankful for what you get. Then it starts all over again.

I think that happens in the super robot wars games. I really dont know, but since its a crossover game, as well as an original one with original robots, I guess you can make your own team and fight some of their enemies from the shows and manga.

Not really, in mecha anime they only put ejection seats when over 60% of the worlds combined armed forces are killed by T1000's. Except in Code Geass, but Kallen just cooks the escaping pilots anyway so it dosen't matter.

I feel this is a problem innate to franchises based on serialized manga. The books go on forever, so the shows also have to go on forever, because the original author didn't want to give up his job. Unfortunatly, we seem to be amoung a rare few who tires of this very easily, which is why single-season shows like this appeal to us. Start, Middle, End, all within reach.

Having only seen clips of this, and watched a good amount of Dragon Ball Z, I fully agree. At least Gaiking characters don't take freaking forever to power up. And they knew when to stop instead of inventing new more powerful bad guys for the sake of beating a dead franchise for more money

in super robot anime the plot revolves around some kind of enemy army (usually aliens) attacking earth, plenty of enemies to fight, they didn't have to stretch a single fight into multiple episodes. Besides some series had very interest plots, with some serious themes, like Voltes V, Daimos and Daltanias.

@SMDeathwind it brought a lot of people into mecha myself included it was also mind blowing. I know where it sits on the mecha timeline, but people need to remember that religious fanbase or not it DID do some impressive shit. Gaiking is still fantastic too though.
