Max you should work for Hondas to tell them "Keep it simple lads. Nothing complicated just to upset the riders ". Great video teacher. Many thanks .

The item you were calling a fuel pump is actually the fuel cutoff valve. The fuel pump is actually inside the tank.

I can't tell you the number of times I've had the same reaction as you when finding a broken stud or mount. At least you now know what your leak was.

It was good that I did it now because, When the thermostat went bad it made the crack you saw in the fitting expand and leak, so it was a matter of time but you are right no beer until I get this put back together right, Thanks for watching.

Max, I enjoy your videos and your attention to detail. I had a coolant leak problem that I traced back to the radiator hose attached to the housing that broke on your ST. Thanks to your video, I was able to disassemble change the hoses and reassemble everything today. I also changed the carburetor boots while I was at it. PS, I enjoyed your music, and I don’t see why they wouldn’t let you play it in your videos.

Those inlet neck elbows seem to be made from aerated aluminum and seem to crack like porcelain i broke one of mine removing it, they are just super weak (i think manufacturing issue), have a look under a microscope and you can see the bubbles in the aluminum. The O Rings also look shot (deformed). I think your on the right path now, a few parts (O Ring and Inlet neck) and very careful checking on the hoses, a few hours work and you will be on the road again. You caught the issue early...

Thanks for the feedback Dean, but I believe the previous owner knew it was cracked and the O-Ring section was filled with some form of packing material which held it together, and after my handling of it in the video that packing material did not et it show then. Again thanks for watching and the info.

Dean1974: good point and I assume they were keeping everything lightweight and inexpensive, instead of another O-Ring I filled the groove with formagasket and another bead after that to seal it and all went well. Thanks for watching and advice and info. go Honda :)

Thanks for watching, Again by no means necessary DO NOT REMOVE the carburetor intake tubes they are a beast to reset back on the carbs, Also view on You Tube a guy doing a complete restoration of a ST1100 nice video I highly recommend it you will see things in the video to give you a heads up on what to expect. Reply with a pic of the finished product.

Had to do a redo of the video because You Tube said I was in violation of music copyright, but I used the music on my flip camera for years and no problem, but here it is again with no music, Again Thanks for watching.

I have a leak under the carburetors and I can't remove them. I see on the video what you did, but not how you removed those carburetors. I got 3 of the clamps screws loose, can't get to the 4th which is the top right one. Can't reach the screw. Tried just forcing the carburetors up but they will not budge. Is something else holding it down, and how did you reach the one screw I can't get to. I have removed the radiator, but not the windshield front part. I have been messing with this for a month.

Hello Max1Chase1 form México City. First of all: Congratulations for doing this vídeo, i t shows scenes not frequent ti see of an ST1100. Second: I did not understand clearly why is it necessary to take off te gas tank to go where the coolant hoses are; would you explain it please?. Third: Do yo know of any víde o slideshow showing the overall operation of the ST1100 cooling system? This because I am having trouble with my 1996 ST1100 and before I come in to conclusions, I would like to know well how its cooling system works. My problem: When I fill up the coolant system, it comes out from somewhere on top o the engine below the carburetors, but once the engine has been running for a while, the loss goes off. After riding the bike for a few miles and even any leak is visible, the engine begins working on a higher and higher temperature because the fan begins not going on, no matter the thermo-switch is almost new (I changes myself some months ago thinking it was the root cause of the problem. When the engines cools down an I I check the coolant level, it is very low. Then I refill the coolant (that went out I do not know where), anda a new fail cycle begins.

Sorry for the delay Gustavo, The removal of the carbs to get to the hoses is a bad Honda design, Your leak maybe like mine was it was a crack in the elbow fitting or you may have one in a hose under there, but once you are under there change the hoses to keep from doing the work twice, The possible reason it stops leaking once it warms up is because everything swells when hot. There is a difference between a 93 and 96 but yours maybe like mine, Hope all goes well, and Thanks for Watching.

Either I got it off Ebay or Amazon, Most Honda dealers will do the same thing for any Honda over 10 years old and charge the extra cost on to you so buy it yourself and save the money, Thanks for Watching
